3/ And pressures are intensifying: 🌡️ Climate change is making work more dangerous 📱 AI & surveillance are creating new forms of control 🏢 Corporate concentration is weakening worker power
Six forces worsening food worker exploitation. Gender, class and race-based discrimination; restrictive migration policies; consolidated corporate power; digital technologies; climate breakdown; weakened public oversight.

2/ Low pay. Wage theft. Dangerous work. Forced labour. Discrimination. Insecure jobs. This isn’t accidental. Today’s food systems are built around keeping labour cheap and workers disempowered.
Exploitation is rife across the entire food chain - fishing, farmworkers, meat processing workers, school meals, food service workers, delivery drivers

Food prices are high everywhere, straining people's ability to buy it; but people in the poorest countries spend a much higher % of their income on food (over 50% in some countries) - making geopolitical shocks and climate events that affect food prices especially harmful in those countries.
