Opinion | Peter Dutton is openly advocating the Great Replacement Theory — a racist ideology denounced as antisemitic and undermining of democracy, @keanebernard.bsky.social writes.

Dutton echoes Trump, Musk and Carlson by peddling Great Replacement Theory
Peter Dutton is now peddling the Great Replacement Theory, an extremist ideology denounced as antisemitic in the US, but which has been mainstreamed by Elon Musk, Donald Trump and Tucker Carlson.

My baby starts high school tomorrow. I'm really anxious because high school was such a horrible experience for me, but I definitely won't be telling them that. They'll be ok. Things are different now. And they have support. #audhd

What's the point in putting in the work to be mentally healthy when the world is turning to shit around you?

Cruel irony no. 436 - when your love language is acts of service but you're also easily overwhelmed and struggle with demand avoidance.

You know that you're a middle-aged #autistic when you have to start wearing an elbow brace to bed due to chronic inflammation in the joint from sleeping on your own t-rex arms 🦖😂

Before you judged someone for being disabled, unhoused or struggling …remember that most people are one accident, medical emergency or stroke of bad luck away from same fate. Judge the capitalistic system that treats us as cogs. Judge those who value economic contribution above everything else.

Self diagnosis is always valid. Official diagnosis is a luxury that not everyone can access, to my eternal frustration. #neurodivergent #audhd #actuallyautistic

No, I don't want to 'earn a living'. I didn't ask to be born into this capitalist hellscape. Tried to opt out a couple of times and apparently that's the wrong answer too. 'Life is precious'. Only so long as you can attach a dollar figure to it, fuckers.

My sister called me crying because she hasn't been able to find a pharmacy who can supply her antidepressants in 8 days. WTaF Australia? Feels like a war on mentally ill people at this point.

This leaves people entirely reliant on their spouse. Too bad if the relationship gets toxic and you need to leave. Should have thought of that before being disabled.

Did you know that people receiving a #disability pension in Australia do not have marriage equality? We cannot get married without risking decrease to our payments, which are already at, if not below the poverty line. If your partner works you can lose it altogether.

The stigma around #ADHD #medication still exists. I have spoken to many parents of ADHD kids who hesitate to try meds because they are scared to be seen 'taking the easy option'. No. If your child had diabetes would you deny them insulin because maybe their pancreas just needs to work a bit harder?

I wish disabled people weren’t viewed as invisible. I wish people respected & listened to us. Perhaps if they did - more folks would be masking and demanding clean air. More people would be proactively protecting their health because they would realize they won’t be the exception.

Today in HELL YES, RESEARCH! Motor coordination is an ACTIVE process for many autistics, even those who can excel physically. Eating, walking, or just sitting can require concentration, and if that concentration gets broken, they can have accidents. journals.plos.org/plosone/arti...

If you feel resentment for me as a seemingly able-bodied person for not "having" to work full time, I suggest you sit with that and examine your true understanding of #disability, #productivity and #selfworth.

Accepting that you have a #disability and cannot work full time also comes with some more hard truths. I will never own a home. I will likely never repay my #hecs. My #superannuation will not support me when I am elderly. I simply cannot attain the same milestones as my peers due to my disability.

When I tell people that I cannot work full time, they often look at me like I have two heads. Full time work is the base level of participation in society for most, particularly when you appear to be 'able-bodied'. #actuallyautistic #audhd #disability

I have the odd privilege of working for the NDIS while also being a participant. The system is horrendously stacked in favour of service providers. It's so convoluted and complex that many who need it cannot even begin to access it. Vulnerable people are being failed every single day. What a joke.

Because holidays, we're resharing our list of often non-obvious things that can cause distress for an autistic person. We hope that by highlighting such stuff you can help the autistic people in your life (or yourself) thrive during this challenging time. thinkingautismguide.com/2022/01/auti...
Square graphic with a black-and-white background photo of a crowd watching a 1962 nuclear bomb test in Nevada.

A semi-transparent red rectangle is superimposed on the photo. It contains text reading, "Too many autistic people learn—often quite early in life—that they have no choice other than to submit to discomforts, and also people in their lives may not even register or believe that their distress is real.

"This means autistic people may seem excited about things that are less uncomfortable/painful to them, which is not the same as enjoying or even neutrally tolerating those things."
