Really enjoyed reading this.
Happy to see a game with good representation being made by white people. As a white person it's nice to see some of doing good work for a change.
I hesitate to buy it as it's brought to us by Xbox and even if the studio has gone independent since l am conflicted between supporting a game with a black female protagonist and not wanting to support a company aiding genocide.
(Props to mothership for being a website where I feel comfortable positing this comment).

After hearing the news about the studio getting free from Microsoft, every new purchase would go directly to the newly independent studio, and reading this beautiful review, I finally pulled the trigger and bought it just now on Steam. Very much looking forward to playing this

Wonderful piece
It's actually a really sweet reflection on the production of the game. While Zaire isn't directly named, I would like to say let's not dogpile another black woman without fully engaging.
As a mixed race person who writes outside of her lived experiences, this is a must read for all of us. Cultural appreciation isn't hard if you put in the work, and that work

J’ai eu peur avec les images full IA de la part d’un créatif (il a expliqué pourquoi ce choix) - mais je retiens un point essentiel : En tant qu’artistes, c’est le moment ou jamais de faire tout ce que l’IA ne pourra jamais : créer du lien, s’exprimer, donner de soi —> être humain•e.

I've been honored to have my work acknowledged by many insitutions: Game IndustryBiz Game changers, Top Positive Leaders Under 35 & recently the 100 women of culture by the ministry of culture in France. Looks like THEY WANT the workerie to happen! To me, impact is EVERYTHING.

After I left, I've been meaning to work on meaningful projects with black/african gamedevs such as Twin Drums on The Wagadu Chronicles & Protodroid Delta. These are some projects by us and for us that really help change the game for black representation.

In 2023 I left Ubisoft honestly because I was sick of the corporate world and social ladder - mind you i'm a black & african woman in this field in France. About time to work for myself! I started giving more talks reflecting on my true calling: making games woke lmao.
