He comments that bans on bodies are about power & control. I comment- what a great connection of India & Jamaica. I didn’t make that one, & yes, they were banning a lot of pieces of culture under the idea of “respectfulness” when we know it is a way to divorce people from their culture.

Students in dance history midterm presentations today- Dancehall. They are supposed to make connections to things we’ve talked about in class. So he points out that British colonizers banned temple dances for being perverse in India & drumming in Jamaica for promoting sexual movement.

Thing I said in a workshop to students today: Developing a coping skill is not the same thing as “building character”, “building resilience,” or developing sustainable professional practices. Some acting and dance teachers need to hear me say that, too.

I went to MAGA church w/ my parents today. The slides for song lyrics & announcements were AI generated. A church. Actively engaged in theft & implicating their entire congregation in it. While preaching the “sin” of divorce. While violating the actual 10 Commandment sin: “thou shalt not steal.”
