Obligatory caveat: my impression is that it had *more* of an audience on consoles and I don’t really feel like tracking down those numbers.

That shitty game was moderately successful and had roughly the same peak player count as BG3 on Steam and the count *plummeted* afterwards. I would guess people bought the game because IP recognition and either beat the game in a week or realized it was shit and bounced off.
