If Meta was prepared to fold so quickly, the only rational explanation would be that they believed they faced a much higher payout if the trial had continued, plus having their predatory business practices exposed as part of the bargain. So why would California and the other states settle now?

Candidly, I had mixed feelings when the news broke about a potential return of Kawhi Leonard to the Raptors. It made me think back to his first tenure with the team; here are my thoughts from 2019. Rereading them, I'm now inclined to believe 'Kawhi II' could be an interesting sequel. | 🏀 🦖

We're in awe 😲 of @redbull.com's ability to get their name 'out there' in some very cool places: to wit, the Red Bull on *both* the aircraft and the low-flying, wind-powered hot rod below, at the recent SailGP event in Perth, Australia. (📸 Jason Ludlow | SailGP) | 🛩️ 🥇 | 🔗 sailgp.com/news/26/sail...
A modern, single-seat, aerobatic monoplane is pictured making a hard right turn using the sail of a racing catamaran sailboat as a pylon. The aircraft is trailing display smoke which arcs around the sailboat's sails below. The aircraft is low over the water; a distance estimated at fifty to seventy-five metres. The aircraft is oriented such that it's flying toward and to the left of the camera. At the moment the image was captured, it was flying from right to left in the frame. The sailboat is a conventional sloop rig, albeit with the main sail cropped square at the top, making the sail more in the shape of an aircraft wing. The hulls of the catamaran are elevated over the water with hydrofoils. The Red Bull logo is featured prominently on both the aircraft and the sailboat. The sailboat also featured the Rolex logo. The surface of the dark blue water has small waves, and the sky above is gin-clear blue. In the distance there is a scrub-covered shoreline with some structures. Other, more conventional sailboats are visible in the distance on the right. The all-black U-2 spy plane is pictured flying from right to left in the frame and at high altitude over a desert landscape. There are no identifying marks anywhere on the aircraft.

This is intriguing: launch thousands of autonomous, long-duration weather balloons. Then, aggregate the data they collect and process it with the aid of AI in order to provide improved atmospheric intelligence. Basically, that's WindBorne Systems. | 🛩️ 🎈 📡 🥇 | 🔗 windbornesystems.com?utm_source=b...
A montage of three photos superimposed on a fourth image. The first of the three superimposed images, top left, shows a roughly horizontal aluminum boom at the end of which is a vertical weather balloon 'gondola' filled primarily with ballast sand. The WindBorne Systems wordmark and logo appear on the clear bag in which the sand is contained. The pole and gondola both have additional, indistinct equipment attached which is likely related to the launch of the aircraft. In the background there is a blurred beachscape. The second image, middle left, shows what appears to be a tracking application for a weather balloon in flight. From the display it seems as though the balloon was launched from the east coast of the United States, made its way across the Atlantic, and was located at that time at « Cadaques, Catalunya, Spain ». The third of the three images, bottom left, shows all of the tracks of many weather balloons superimposed over a Mercator projection of the surface of the Earth. It's a 'spaghetti' mass of lines which tend to cluster along and just north of the equator. There is less dense clustering toward the north pole. The image on which these three images are montaged is a rocky ocean shore where a single weather balloon is hovering at a low altitude just over the water. It may have been shortly after the balloon was launched, or shortly before it was going to land. Alternatively, it may simply be a point in the flight where the balloon dipped down close to the surface and then returned to altitude. (📸 WindBorne Systems)
