The team is currently hard at work on our next game, which is far larger than our first. Taking the lessons we learned from Direct Line, we decided to switch to GODOT from Ren'py, and we now have a much better idea of how to handle .ogg audio. Stay in our orbit, you'll see our next game very soon!

You bought an old-fashioned phone from a yard sale, thinking it would look cool in your room... until it rings in the middle of the night. You answer, only to hear a mysterious voice that claims you called them. Wait... then why did the phone ring? inkycosmos.itch.io/direct-line

A screenshot of the game reveals a half-dark room, the far-right side features a brightly lit shade of a half-obscured standing lamp as the only source of light. It highlights a 1980's red rotary dial phone upon a nightstand. The curly red cord from the phone's base is stretched out, towards the edge of the image and disappears out of sight. The middle of the room is a large white slatted closet with bi-fold double doors, the left side is slightly cracked open to reveal the darkness within. To the left of the closet, a short shelving unit has space for a stack of classic VHS cassettes and a VCR. Atop of the shelf is a large boombox with a precarious stack of cassettes. Above the boombox, upon the wall is parody poster for a movie called The Shiny, which displays a white axe crosses a red baseball bat and small illegible red text beneath it. Center of the screen towards the bottom half is the text UI, a semi-transparent red outline of two phones, are connected by their stretched cords. Within the UI, a darkened background allows the white text within to stand out. The words present within say: A humid summer night.

Our first game, Direct Line, features the amazing voice acting of @rexr0sario.bsky.social as Rosario (the best coincidence) made for #O2A2! Only One of Any Asset (O2A2) was a micro visual novel game jam with a 1K word limit, 1BG, 1 SFX, 1 VA, 1 Sprite/CG... ect. inkycosmos.itch.io/direct-line

Upon a black background tall and thin red letters spell out the game title Direct Line. The words are split to nearly fill the space from top to bottom. To the right, the outline of a ghostly transparent hand reaches down toward an eerily gray glowing red 1980's phone receiver. The red cord from the phone spirals up the extended arm, allowing it to dangle, just out of reach.
