Is anyone else here old enough to remember “Bone Fone” (or possibly “Phone”), which sat on your shoulders—kind of like backpack straps—and played music while you jogged? This is very early 80s, IIRC. I was too young to actually own this product, but I remember magazine ads for it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"...too many Democrats are treating this manufactured outrage like it’s a real issue that must be addressed. They’re accepting the Republicans’ framing of trans children rather than countering with a more positive and pro-children framing." But not Andy Beshear.

I have heard of Ella Langley, but only because the PT I was seeing for my tennis elbow told me she was going to see her at Railbird a few months ago. The song? Never heard it. I imagine it's as terrible as its title. 😂

Spare a good vibe for me? I applied for a job, a side gig*, and I would very much like to be hired. *I love my interpreting work, but there's just not enough of it, thanks to the policies of a certain administration.

I’m in Ireland with my kids this week, and I have to say it’s really nice to not worry whether the produce I eat is going to make me sick. Also, I saw a poster for an ABBA tribute band called The Björn Identity. 😂😂😂

I've been a medical interpreter for immigrants and refugees for the past 7+ years, and I never witnessed any vaccine hesitancy—for folks' children, anyway—until this past week. It happened twice in two days at well-child visits. It's upsetting, truly.

Thinking about how French people have invented “English” words—especially ones ending in “-ing”—with meanings that don’t exist in this language. Examples: A blowout at a hair salon is called “un brushing.” Your morning jog would be “un footing, and the sweats you wear are “un jogging.” ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

OMG, whyyyy is this English chef who lives in France pronouncing “croque monsieur” as “croque meshure”?? I mean, why the “sh” sound?? Sigh. I’m shouting into the void, I realize. I’m not asking for a French pronunciation. Just don’t make up sounds that don’t exist for that combo of letters.

One way to take me out of the show I’m watching is to have non-French actors play French characters who speak French in the dialogues. The accent isn’t believable! Gah!* (Looking at you S2E3 of Interview With The Vampire.) *Yes. I’m a snob about this. Je ne peux pas m’en empêcher, bordel !
