Saw this post and remembered seeing it at the All-American Comics shop, new on the rack. So, I would have been 11 years old when I rode my bike 1.5 miles to the shop. Now, I don't llet my 11-y.o. ride her bike to the end of the block without a helmet and eyeball-supervision. Worst Gen. Xer ever.

80 years ago today, the Newark Eagles bested the KC Monarchs 4-3 in the Negro League World Series. Buck O’Neil, fresh out of service in WWII, didn’t win the series, but he went into the history books with a league leading .353 batting average. He later became the league’s greatest ambassador.

“Wonderwall Music by George Harrison” 1968 Apple 🍏 Records The first post-breakup single by a Beatle. Recorded in India, it’s mostly instrumental with traditional Indian instruments. Weird ragtime interlude. Clapton and Ringo cameos. Need a gummi for this. #NowSpinning #VinylSky #Vinyl #Oasis?OK

Tutu & the Pirates “Trail of the Great White Beaver” 2020 (no label) One of the earliest Chicago protopunk bands from the late 70s/early 80s decided to drop a whole new album of insanity in 2020. Hilarious and depraved. #NowSpinning #VinylSky #Vinyl

T-Bone Walker “Dirty Mistreater” 1983 MCA Records “Stormy Monday” reminds me how my Irish Papa dubbed me “Stormy” as an infant - great giver of nicknames. He changed his own name at least four times on legal documents. Entirely possible he worked for the Irish mob. #NowSpinning #VinylSky #Vinyl

I'm not an Olivier awards guy, but "Cabaret" by Amy Lennox from 2022 hit my algorithm, and it may be one of the greatest performances I've ever seen. It's enthralling. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DVx...

Weird fact. The woman on the cover of the #Lemonheads album (Polly Noonan) was the same little girl who offered Ed Rooney gummi bears on the bus at the end of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." "Gummi bear? It's been in my pocket; they're real warm and soft." Chickachiahhhhhhh ...

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes “Willie” “Kenny” & “Jerry.” B sides: “City of New Orleans” (yeah, Steve Goodman wrote it … Willie was maybe the 3rd guy? to sing it, and I will forgive you.) “Lady” & “I’m Gonna Write a Song.” These are killer B-sides. Maybe give Steve his own 45 for being a badass

I have NEVER heard this 1982 version. It's like a Bizzaro version of the Coverdale track from 1989. If SNL was spoofing this, they wouldn't come close to the bizarre facial hair. Also, hobos apparently fell out of favor, yet drifters were still accepatable.
