Fog world in Townfall is bloody glorious and I did get little bits of nostalgia for all the dated equipment and the post-Thatcher decaying small town feel. Perfect for Silent Hill. The otherworld tho… the brutalist and industrial designs are solid but the lighting feels like the newer Wolfensteins.

Compare to Silent Hill f which I feel managed to transpose the tone, structure and thematic trappings of Silent Hill into new mechanics and its aesthetic managed to still have that SH feeling while taking a more naturalistic and rural tinge.

It is kinda borderline “it’s good, but it’s not a good X game”, definitely something to stew on a bit. There’s a lot of Silent Hill trappings and many nice little SH details but I can’t shake the feeling it’s just a pre-existing game reconfigured to be more Silent Hill. Really enjoyed it though.

the pre-release songs for Day and Night were fully catfishing lmao but I am quite happy with the directions Carly Rae has taken for both sides. We'll see how Night grows but it's expansion on what she started on The Loveliest Time is exactly what I wanted from her.

Started the Sinking City 2 today and it's crazy to me how Resident Evil is still producing daughters but I'm not complaining. Kinda on the fence about how that format applies to Lovecraftian horror so far but I guess there's plenty of proto-Zombies(?) in his work.
