A sneak preview of what's cooking. The dinosaur is my own "Crooked rex" model that you'll have seen a lot if you follow me. I assembled the environment from a Poly Haven, Megascans, & Fab assets, as well as trial and error with different snow mesh generators and particle setups.

A simple infographic showing a grayish, sparse-haired Mixotoxodon and a more tan, slightly hairier Toxodon against a solid background, with a human silhouette for scale. Each animal has a graphic besides it showing an estimated range, and its scientific name below it.

I haven't posted anything for a while, so here's some new #paleoart for #FossilFriday: Cetiosaurus in a Middle Jurassic landscape. I've had to compose and execute this in just two days, so hopefully it looks OK! (All data for the plant recons comes from @palaeojules.bsky.social.) #dinosaur #sciart
A long-necked dinosaur walks along a shallow river surrounded by various Jurassic trees, ferns and shrubs. A small predatory dinosaur watches from the nearest riverbank.

Over at #Patreon, I've been discussing my latest #specevo #dinosaur piece for my upcoming book. Meet Thalassoraptor maximus: non-bird dinosaurs have finally made it into the oceans! About time, guys, sheesh. Lots more detail at www.patreon.com/markwitton/p....
Two large blue-black animals, looking like a cross between a bird and a sea-lion, perched on rocks lapped by gentle waves. White birds with blue bills sit and stretch nearby, wondering what the crazy motherhubbards next to them are all about.

New illustration for #ZoicTCG🔥 I got to revisit a Dilophosaurus I'd sculpted in 3D and explore some cool interactions in the world of Cyberzoic The Pyrodactyl's flame wings and glowing internal energy were especially fun to paint. #TCGArt
A red-brown Dilophosaurus with its mouth open charges through a dusty canyon, kicking up debris. Behind it looms a large, mechanical Pyrodactyl armor unit with a skeletal, bladed design, glowing orange internal energy, and wings made of swirling flames. The scene is illuminated by fiery orange light against a hazy desert landscape, with distant Dilophosaurus visible in the background. Zoic TCG and RAR logos appear in the bottom corners, and the artist’s social media handle is displayed at the top.Black and white thumbnail sketch of a Dilophosaurus running forward with its mouth open, being chased down by a large mechanical Pyrodactyl armor unit. The mechanical unit has a spiked, skeletal head, segmented armor, and large flame shaped wings extending behind it. Loose pencil lines and shading establish the characters, movement, and composition, with rough outlines of flames surrounding them. Today's four random pieces of palaeoart: Mauricio Antón's Smilodon fatalis, Dmitry Bogdanov's Dvinia and "Fortunodon" (Vivaxosaurus), @bobnichollsart.bsky.social's Bonnerichthys, and Petr Modlitba's Carnotaurus!
A snarling, striped sabre-toothed cat in a grassy plain. Its paw is held at the ready, claws unsheathed.A small, furry cynodont comes face to face with a horned, burrowing dicynodont. The roots of a tree frame the burrow, wrapping around the animals alongside horsetails and other greenery.A huge pachycormid fish gapes its huge mouth as it swims through sunlit waters. Behind, a huge elasmosaur lunches toward a mixed group of small fish and baculitids.A slenderly built, earthy-toned Carnotaurus stands atop a rocky hill, overlookijng the land below. Its long tail whips around gracefully, lined with small spines that decorate its dorsal surface.

And just for fun, because I seem to have them saved in the same directory, here are Deinonychus predation scenes that I drew when I was 13-14 years old. They are preying on iguanodonts because Cretaceous sauropods weren't on the radar when I was small.
An old pencil sketch showing featherless raptorial dinosaurs attacking an iguanodont. There are deep gashes and gore across the herbivore, because teenagers gotta teenage. Another old sketch showing a group of featherless raptorial dinosaurs running around and clambering over a bellowing iguanodont. The latter has broad scute-like scales over its belly because I'd been looking at Ricardo Delgado's dinosaur imagery again. That probably also explains the nasty wound across the iguanodont neck (Age of Reptiles fans might know what I'm talking about).

For #FossilFriday, here's some 2019 #paleoart of Deinonychus subduing a juvenile Sauroposeidon using the Raptor Prey Restraint (RPR) model of dromaeosaur predation: grabbing prey with taloned feet, pinning it down with its body weight, and then eating it alive. Just like modern raptors, then.
A yellowish feathered predatory dinosaur has leapt onto the back of a small long-necked dinosaur, forcing it roughly to the ground. It has grasped the back of the herbivore with taloned feet, and holds its wings out for stability. Dust swirls around them as they wrestle.

Also, unless I'm severely mistaken, these are the first full scale, full body skeletal mounts of Megalosaurus that aren't actually based on Neovenator or some other large theropod from the former wastebasket still attached to antiquated labels. Which is insane for many reasons!
