Battery in the UPS at the head of my dead died tonight... Had the decency to die before bed, unlike the battery in the UPS at the foot of my bed, which died at 4 AM earlier this week. Someday I am going to die painfully in a house fire. Just know that I lived true to myself.

I have an old Xeon server with an nvidia Quadro P2000 that I put ProxMox on and managed to hack the drivers so that VMs could do 3D rendering. It wasn't great but it was pretty cool. Now if I want to update it, I need to figure out how to get all that to work again on Trixe. So... I'll just […]

Philomena: Some people have been writing PHP for over 20 years. Is that because it's particularly difficult to finish?

Expert: No, software is constantly evolving.

Philomena: So they've been writing the same website for 20 years?

Expert: No, different projects.

Philomena: Have they tried finishing one before starting another?

Expert: That's not how software development works.

Philomena: My mate Paul spent 20 years building a shed. Turned out he was just an alcoholic.

Expert: Right.

Philomena: Is PHP like that?

[netbsd] @aburka Ah! Then your boot loader is fucked. That's easier to fix. Just gotta boot back into the ol' rescue CD, chroot to your grub distro, and grub-install sda. More or less. May vary depending on your distro and setup.

[netbsd] @aburka In Linux fdisk, when you create a partition, it asks for a type. You can also change this with the "t" key later. These types are different for GPT and MBR, but for GPT the type NetBSD uses is "a9". Note that this is different from the actual filesystem... this is just a byte […]
