Syngenta, the Basel crop-protection giant owned by China's Sinochem, plans to close its plant in Grangemouth, Scotland, which has made crop chemicals since 1919. Its other sites are cheaper to run, it says. 377 jobs are at risk, just over a year after Scotland paid £2.2m to expand the plant

R-Pharm's drug plant in Illertissen (Bavaria) is closing because of the sanctions on Russia. Customers and partners pulled away from a supplier with a Russian owner, and Russia's countermeasures hurt it as well. The plant went insolvent in spring, and the search for a buyer failed.
