Wonderful little guy I saw on marketplace, well behaved. Apparently it’s a vintage brontosaurus plush from the 80s, and if he wasn’t $45 I would have probably gotten him lol

I think I hit the motherload today garage Saling!! I got a lot of rad stuff but I think these might be the biggest scores!
Mid 70s Polaroid sx-70, the first major instant camera to popularize the style! Snagged it for $12 which is INSANE AND IT LOOKS CLEAN, just gotta get a pack of film see if it runs. Also I cleaned it up and now it looks a lot cleaner Neat ceramic candle holder, another piece of ceramic for the collection! Probably gonna bring this to my cabin for decoration up there The god damned GRAIL! Been hunting for one of these for years! IBM selectric II, it’s the same model that hunter Thompson used for writing. I’ve always lusted for one of these and it’s disgusting, I basically got it for $5!!!???? It’s not in amazing shape and I’m sure I’ll have to teach myself some technique on maintaining it but I’m in LOVE!!! Finally the unexpected score! A whole ass bass guitar for $35!!! It had super high action but I’ve been adjusting the neck and it’s already pretty playable! It’s probably got the same set of strings on it from 2004 when it was made, and it’s funny because the strings I want are $40 which is more than the bass itself lol but like, not every day you get a score like this!

Been working on some stuff lately, set up this little retro media nook in my office and well as a collectibles shelf, and I set up one shelf specifically to the ceramic works I’ve found thrifting and antique hunting over the last couple years! I’m becoming obsessed with ceramics tbh
Ceramics display shelf including various pieces from mugs, a plate, a vase, water jug, inkwell, and a vintage Japanese dragon puppet

Was reminiscing the other night about my old screenprinting work and I just wanna babble about it for a bit if yall tolerate that lol. Here’s a smattering of old work from my college days, I really want to get back to printing soon I truly miss it! It’s my passion! Check alt text for my babbling!
So I do have a bachelors degree, I went to school for art, specifically illustration, but by the end of my 7 year process of getting a four year degree (I’m poor and had to work a lot of jobs to be able to even pay partially for my degree I couldn’t afford to be in school full time lol) but by the end of the road I realized that my passion was in printmaking. I love to pull screens, carve plates, and specifically I love seeing the repetition of work. Theres something soothing in that for me. The picture is of a small design piece I made and the reputation of multiples, I can’t remember exactly but I believe I only pulled six of these, but when I was coming from doing single paintings or ink drawings there was an intoxicating feeling of seeing pieces come together en mass I really fell into portrait stuff too, I always enjoyed reprinting these images of my old buddies, ratty punks who I still hold dear, but being colorblind I loved getting to work with colors and overlays, play with the process organically and come up with colors that felt right for me, I was obsessed with these three colors specifically, bright orange, pink, and this CMYK blue, they way they laid ofer each other k felt it got a lot of depth! This piece just features two people bruised and bloody, one smoking a cigarette, it’s a portrait of the fun times in my youth I also really loved the idea of perfection through imperfection. This piece was another pull of 6 pieces, I really should dig this one out and frame it, but I loved hand blocking out the shapes, allowing for little bleeds of color for a slightly wavy edge, but most importantly to me in the top corners there is this little curved mark in the background color, we called them “kiss marks” it was a result of ink coming through the screen so thick that when it was pulled away the ink went a little with the screen. To most people that would be an imperfection and if I was looking to make a flawless set of work this would have been discarded as a dud. But to me the kiss marks represent something more, it’s the hand of the artist, you can see that was still learning the craft, that what I was doing was handmade, I look for those marks in all works I see, because I don’t want to see perfection, I want to see the intent that someone made it, and was thinking about it Also here’s a neat skeleton print, I loved drawing skeletons and reapers, still do, this was just an attempt to make a really grungy shirt lol. Always found it fun to mix my illustration background, hand drawing the stuff that I would eventually transfer to screen, and then printing the stuff over and over again l. It felt good to be a one man machine

Oooughhhhh I’ve been so sick with the flu, but I’m finally starting to feel better so I spent some time In my Basement setting up a new gaming area, it’s still very much a WIP and I’ve gotta dig out a few more retro consoles but soon I’ll have this tower full and ready to go!
So far I’ve got my n64, my SNES that eventually I want to do a shell swap, a Japanese GameCube (orange) my eng GameCube, ps2 and my childhood xbox classic! I’ve still gotta bring down my Xbox 1, another vhs player, and I’m considering either an NES or a Genesis though maybe I should just get one of those retron players that play multiple systems to save a lil space lol Again it’s rough I’m just moving stuff around but I’ve got a little nook going with tv, games, horror novels, and tabletop games lol

OK lemme blab for A minute about my Love for old CRT TVs and Espically vhs players! Here’s two setups in my house that I use for watching tapes, (and hopefully soon dubbing tapes as well) but though neither of these TVs are the highest def available that’s the thing about it, it has CHARM!
This setup in my office, it’s very much a WIP but I’m enjoying adding stickers to it, it was already partially stickered up but I love am having a good time stickering this thing! So far we are just using it to play videos and play ps2 in our office area but with the tape player and the inputs available I’m gonna try my hand at converting some digital media back on to vhs. Close up mood view of my bedroom tv setup, this tv is more or less just for enjoying background media while I draw, I watch a lot of old anime and documentary tapes on it while I work, this was the Orion number from an old copy of Akira lol Finally this is my bedroom setup, it’s in flux always changing but I LOVE this tv, it’s an old 13” megatron tv I found in the trash, as I do with all my old TVs (I rarely ever buy them I just wait for trash days to see when people clean out ther basements and garages lol, the most I’ve ever spent on a crt was $10. But I particularly love how this tv matches the vhs player and they both share the same width of the shelf it’s on. It all has a purpose feel to it

Pretty damned stoked, found this CRT in the trash last night, brought it home and ran tests it all functions great including the dvd player! Apparently it’s a really good gaming tv which is perfect because we are gonna use it for our ps2 and ddr setup! I love old tech!!!
CRT tv I found on the side of the road last night, it’s a Panasonic TAU with a built in dvd player, apparently it’s on par with a Sony triniton which is one of the more highly desirable crt tvs out there lol! I’m just happy to re use something and keep more stuff from the dump!

Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster 7-string
When I reposted the 7-string Flying V yesterday, somebody commented that a "7-string Gibson feels wrong". Well, here's something that feels just as wrong: a 7-string Fender Stratocaster! This is actually the first 7-string Strat*. It's got two Fishman humbuckers, a 3-way blade switch, a volume knob, and a hardtail bridge. I like its beat-up purple paint job.

*Well, if you ignore the ones that Squier released in the 2000s or the Alex Gregory signature model from the 1990s that had a high A instead of a low B.

Image is a screencap of a marketplace posting for a super skimpy bikini bottom with little bedazzled charms and the word “redwings” at the top You don’t understand how hard it has been for me not to buy this handmade dinosaur toothbrush holder

Very lucky find last night on marketplace, I love Devi Ever fuzzes and I’m always happy to add more to my rigs! Legend of fuzz circa the early 2010s! Not too shabby for $40! Also the guy from My Bloody Valentine apparently had one of these on his live rig? Neat!
It’s a silicone fuzz boutique pedal from the early 2010s. It sounds heavy and strange like a droning synth and fuzz that bitcrush together! Beloved by the My

My current pedalboard is focused for doom/sludge metal, it’s super simple but still hefty! Out of my currently 7ish fuzz pedals I honed it down to two, have a cheap reverb that really acts as a flanger, and a tuner, all on a dedicated board! -fuzzlord mf-4 -Devi ever 90 -malekko spring reverb copy
I use a small pedalboard that was a gift from a friend after I covered a gig for them, it’s really a meaningful thing because it ties my stuff together and reminds me of a really fantastic night! It’s simple, tight, and easy to transport just how I like it!

The main workhorse is the old school boss chromatic tuner, tried and true this thing is just as reliable as it was 20 years ago haha!

Next is a copy of a malekko spring reverb, I found out about it from a 60 cycle him video and for $35 it does the job, adds a little headroom but truly with it cranked it makes a pretty good bass phase/flange tone that I use to add depth to my sound!

Finally my pride and joy, the FUZZ !

I run these two in tandem as they are the best bass fuzzes I have currently and they do two very specific jobs!

I’ve focused my ear in on fuzz and over the years I have tried many different pedals, that said where I currently am for the bass is first and foremost a big muff.

The fuzzlord MF-4 hit a very specific need for me with it being a louder and more customized big muff with a lot more scoop and essentially an eq knob added so you can optimize it specifically for bass. It is rich, harmonic, and heavy in all the right places while having the definition to both run individual notes and big bass chords! Also I got the special edition Dracula release with bats all etched into the pedal it’s pretty rad! Honestly everything guzzlers does is rad and I want more stuff from them!

The last pedal is both sentimental and serves a very specific purpose, my Devi ever 90. I got this years ago, one of my first pedals I ever got, got it with a Hyperion and for years devis pedals were unfindable. She is still my favorite pedal maker, the queen of fuzz and a totally rad trans pedal maker her fuzzes are louder and meaner than anything I’ve found. The 90 is harsh, it’s painful, it’s a Velcro fuzz from hell and it’s perfect for when I want to cut through for a piercing lead tone!

Now for basses, of which I have many… but let’s be frank nothing beats a good fender bass. I love mine, it’s sadly vintage (sad because it’s my Birth year 1994 lol) and also because I got it in memory of my grandma, it’s my Cathy bass. Made in Japan iykyk Olympic white on tomato 62 reissue
Close up pic, she’s got a good yellowing to the lacquer giving it a perfectly rich color, and has neat little features that are ear specific such as the above the body grounding wire from the bridge pickup to the bridge itself as well as the era correct extra strap button on the back of the headstock. Though I prefer flatwounds this bass came set up with rounds, and at this point I don’t know if I’ll change from that because it just sounds so good and aggressive! I wanted to add a bridge cover and pickup cover but at this point in person it’s perfect as is, this is my dream instrument Very rarely I play live though I’m planning to change that but of course I take this bass out when I do, she’s too good to stay at home her whole life lol

I’ve still got baby pictures from when I found this bass on reverb, it was the first time I’ve ever made a big purchase sight unseen, but I’m really happy with it. I wanted an instrument that was as old as me so I could age with it, and this was it. There’s gonna be more in the alt text lol
I love this picture and I gotta say she’s just as pretty in person honestly! So basically how this came to be was my grandma who I cared a lot about passed suddenly in 2020, we still don’t know what happened she kept her medical issues very secret but we knew she had been sick for a long time. When she passed she left each grandkid a little money to be split evenly, not a lot basically a months rent but that doesn’t matter. What matters was though I could have spent that money on bills and probably saved myself a bit of a headache finance wise what I decided instead was to get some I would use that I could think about her every time I played it, and this was the ticket. All my uncles and cousins on her side are guitar players, and though I play guitar too no one else plays bass, so I wanted something of her to take with me when we play together at family gatherings. It gave me an excuse to get exactly what got me as well, got in right before used gear prices skyrocketed, and though I had always borrowed people’s jazz basses for gigs I knew it was time I got one myself. The slim neck is fast, the fretboard is buttery, it has vintage spec small fret wire and I like it that way it’s precise and articulate. It’s as close as I’ll ever get to a real 62 Jazz but with this I don’t feel guilty playing the hell out of it! This bass truly means the world to me. As mentioned previously here’s a curious 62 spec with an extra strap button on the back of the headstock, back when they figured upright players would want to transition to electric bass lol. Also with this bass it’s a made in Japan, a distinction from later years is specifically the “made” part. Pre 1996 I believe all fender Japan instruments were made at the fujigen factory (was once the leader in making top quality fender copies in the 70s, recruited in the 80s to lead japans made in Japan fenders, and once they were making better instruments in the 90s than fender America they switched to a lesser favorite to take up the Japan fender lines, the distinction later is it saying “crafted in Japan” instead. Early made in Japan is the best there is besides vintage. Also now the Fujigen factory is ESPs custom shop lol so says a lot, it’s a QUALITY bass best I’ve played.
