Incredible news of Little Egret breeding in Aberdeenshire. This species continues to spread and the Bird Atlas 27-31 is going to show a huge change in breeding distribution since the last Atlas period. #BirdingScotland www.nature.scot/first-confir...

First confirmed breeding of little egrets in north-east Scotland
Four of the distinctive large white chicks have fledged at NatureScot’s Forvie National Nature Reserve (NNR) this summer, in what is thought to be the most northerly breeding record in the UK.

Cory’s sauntered north past Girdle Ness at 1725, otherwise fairly quiet with 2 Sooty, just 9 Manx, 6 Bonxies, and single Pom and Arctic Skuas. In other news the 47 Canada’s at Inchgarth had disappeared this evening, no doubt on their way back across the Atlantic! #birdingscotland

47 Canada Geese on Inchgarth at lunchtime, easily beating my previous high count of 9, and my first here for over 2 years. Had a flock of around 50 over the house on Thursday last week, may well be the same birds #birdingscotland

After submitting the list of species from Inchgarth last weekend and a bit of detective work on a couple of photos, turns out we actually had a hat-trick of 3 new sp for VC92! Least Yellow Underwing, Lobesia abcisana and Devon Carpet - the latter being the first for NEScotland 🤯 #teammoth

Think this was supposed to be a reassuring message but the longer it takes for my parcel to arrive (11 days and counting since it was posted) the more it feels like a ransom note….used to think Parcel Farce were bad but Evri are genuinely dreadful 🙄🤡

Caught up with the Caspian Gull at Girdle Ness this afternoon. Initial confusion over its parentage seem to have come from the recycling of its code from a chick from a mixed nest that had died, but parents of this bird both Dutch Casps #birdingscotland
