Royal Corps Observer Bunker for sale - not really big enough for an RPG con but you could maybe get a table of Twilight 2000, Cold War, Hot War, Paranoia etc in there Chemical toilets would just add to the authentic ambience www.futurepropertyauctions.co.uk/property_det...

This time I want to think about how I use chunking to reduce cognitive load on players and GM. Also how framing can be applied to NPCs and Orthogonal Unit Differentiation to make each type of NPC more than just a bag of hit points.

Over the last 2 weeks I put everything I have for Telefantasy RPG into a mock zine with to see what it might look like Then I cut it all back to a core 2 page to see what I thought was essential. Next to start filing it out again

Looked up some red, violet, and black parrots. There's the dracula parrot - screams but likes figs. Nice look for the young Victorian goth. www.livescience.com/animals/bird...

Stumbled across what is probably a very dry book from the Town Planning conference held in Liverpool in 1914. It has a cross section of the proposal for Queens Drive with space for trams to be added down the middle later. One of the roads near me was built to the plan archive.org/details/tran...

YouTube just suggested a new channel where one of the presenters is a former British Admiral and the title was obviously intended to attract a certain kind of viewer I hope his former colleagues all call him Admiral Click-Beatty

Anyway the upshot was that Dune can be looked through a lens of his experience of fanaticism in politics from when he witnessed his "Cousin Joe" McCarthy and the anti-communism witch hunt. All of the factions have some sort of fanaticism / cult going on to some degree and its always bad.

I have too many Frank Herbert books and I can't remember which one has some of his explanation in it and it may have been an interview by Heinlein or Asimov and not a book (being very unhelpful finding the sources here) where he talked about religion in Dune and some of his other books

Didn't get to run RPG yesterday due to clearing backlog of quizzes and playing board games That means I've got one in the bank for next time and a chance to look at how the odds work as while I know they add up on a per roll basis I want to pull back and look at a fight or adventure scale

Never have a problem scheduling a session Can't pick what game to play - fork the group Some AI start homebrewing rules then develop new games Eventually it consumes all power and resources on the planet

Just in time for my birthday – TERMINUS has been awarded 5 stars by @gonzohistory.bsky.social in the @forteantimes.bsky.social ! 🥳 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 To celebrate this happy confluence of events, I'm offering 15% off both Darkened Hill & Dale and TERMINUS on my web shop this weekend. ☺️ shop.patchworkfez.games
A close-up of the final paragraph of the review of TERMINUS in the Fortean Times. It reads: 'In its evocation of a specific kind of contemporary British urban strangeness, Terminus creates a unique and memorable setting for a story of a liminal space brushing against cosmic horror. ★★★★★'The full text of the review of TERMINUS in the Fortean Times magazine, held by me. It's unfortunately too long to fit in this alt text.

I do like feeling this relaxed about running an RPG session before hand Using a set of rules that can be summarised on one sheet of A4 really helps that Anyway looking forward to some 1960s Telefantasy fun pitting the PCs against Soviet troops and the emissary of a Greek god
