I love @archive.org and libraries, I really do. But. Fucking Blaire White the transphobic trans woman is at the bottom of Body Alchemy's page. Shouldn't even appear once, yet she's 2 out of 4 "SIMILAR ITEMS (based on metadata)". Refreshed repeatedly; stayed 2/4 videos by her while others changed.

Dear Equality Florida Leadership,

We are writing to express deep concern and disappointment regarding Equality Florida's recent decision to use the Pulse massacre site as the stage for a political rally. This marks the first time a nonprofit has done so, and it has caused profound harm to survivors and victims' families.

What unfolded was not only inappropriate but also retraumatizing. The deployment of the bomb squad-for the first time since the night of the massacre and not due to an actual bomb, just as on June 12, 2016, but due to a box of chalk-created a frightening and triggering situation for many. Survivors and families should never again be forced to relive that kind of terror at the very site where our loved ones were murdered and many of us barely survived.

This is not Stonewall. Pulse is the site of a tragedy, of unresolved and unacknowledged violence that continues to harm those of us most directly impacted.

Equality Florida's actions transformed sacred ground into a media circus and you used victims for publicity as part of a media strategy. That is unacceptable.

For years, survivors and families have endured repeated exploitation-by onePULSE Foundation, politicians, and others-who have used our trauma for profit, publicity, or votes. We know what exploitation looks like. We recognize it immediately. And it is devastating each time it happens.

[REDACTED] does not speak for the 49 families whose loved ones were murdered there. So, please stop tokenizing him as the representative of the PULSE victim base, which he is NOT.

We ask that Equality Florida:
1. Issue a formal public written apology to survivors, victims' families, and the community and publish this on all social media sites ASAP.
2. Commit clearly and unequivocally in writing to never again using the Pulse site as a stage for political events or rallies.

The victims, their families, and survivors deserve peace and respect. We will not allow their memories—or our lived trauma—to be reduced to political theater. We deserve a dignified space for solemn remembrance that is not co-opted by either political party for political stunts. We refuse to be abused by another nonprofit.

Your marketing decisions also subjected survivors to abusive attacks from your own supporters on social media, simply because we spoke out against your poor judgment. The harm you have caused is irreparable.

If Wookieepedia could refrain from taking credit for *my* achievement, that'd be great. I took advantage of the wiki's interest in countering its transphobic reputation to found WP:PRIDE. I still got pushback on acknowledging LGBTQIA+ characters, with excuses that the language wasn't "in-universe".

In this excerpt from Wookieepedia's current main page, the following phrase has a magenta underline to emphasize it: "Project Pride's efforts to improve the wiki's coverage of LGBTQIA+ topics."

The complete sentences leading up to that are: "Since 2015, editor recruitment has advanced on Wookieepedia, with the great majority of the current administrators and review board members having joined those groups in recent years. The past ten years has also seen the progress of the Discussions forum and the launch of twenty-two new collaborative WookieeProjects. These include the Project Stardust initiative focusing on essential topics and Project Pride's efforts to improve the wiki's coverage of LGBTQIA+ topics." "You mentioned you also wrote “The Star Wars Holiday Special.” I haven’t seen the new documentary about it, “A Disturbance in the Force,” but see that you’re in it. What’s the filmmaker’s take on the special?"

Bruce Vilanch answers:
"Well, it answers the basic question, “How did this happen?” Because ever since Star Wars became the Scientology of the nerds, whenever they discover this thing on the internet, they say, “George Lucas, how could you betray us with this?” A lot of the documentary is about how it actually happened and nerd parsing of the Star Wars mythology. A lot of it is also funny people talking about how bad it was. That includes some of the people who worked on it, myself among them. Even if you don’t give a rat’s ass about Star Wars or about television, the whole idea of it is kind of funny.

It inspired me to write a book. I answer the question of how they happened. The book is called, “It Seemed Like a Bad Idea at the Time.” It’s a chronicle of all of these shows that I wrote, including the first Oscars show, which was the notorious Rob Lowe/Snow White show. They’re all in there. I’ve also expanded it to include Broadway and movies, you know, legendary disasters I’ve been involved in like “Can’t Stop the Music.” I discovered when I plumb the depths that they were rich with incident."

Bruce Vilanch answers: "I believe I was the only gay writer on the show and everybody else was straight. Bea Arthur and Harvey Korman were my contributions. I must have had a loud voice in the room to get that stuff through. I write in the book that making it gay was never my intention. Only looking with a backward gaze you can say that was gay."

BKMAG's question is: "Is there anything else about the special that gets interpreted with a 'backward gaze'?"
Bruce Vilanch's answer is: "I get these emails from people saying, 'How could they allow that blackface to happen on the special?' And I say, 'Blackface? What are you talking about?' First of all, Harvey Korman is playing an alien creature. It’s a humanoid, but it’s not a person. And then I went to look at it and I realized, when we made it, the makeup was purple and green. When someone is watching today through a 45th-generation knockoff of the tape, it could actually look like it was blackface. So I get what they were saying, but that’s the backward gaze again. That has nothing whatsoever to do with what we did."
