this is why i think the idea consciousness as an 'emergent' property is not good. ur saying consciousness could conceivably emerge from a complex enough program. i just dont think its possible. but with enough training data, it might be hard to tell the difference from the outside

I feel like the AI Will Be Conscious thing is similar to the idea of the singularity or like Elon Musk insisting that specific memories can be saved or deleted, like it's the same very literal understandings of the mind that yet all rely on magic we have no working model of or evidence for.

genuinely curious if anyone is currently (or has ever) made a concerted effort to avoid lettuce or produce.... most of the responses ive seen are like "i ate lettuce (less than 2 weeks ago) and im totally fine!" or "i dont eat vegetables anyway" and i feel crazy
