If we believe they must have been evil the whole time, grifters who never believed in the things they said, then we leave ourselves exposed to the "good people" who did terrible things. We need to believe he could have become a better person and still shouldn't be forgiven for the things he did.

We don't know if there are other victims unless one comes forward and we shouldn't get caught up in thinking that he must have left a trail of victims and felt no remorse. Absuers are still human, they can feel remorse and empathy, and those should not distract you from what they've done.

what are you talking about? I'm saying I don't think that owning up to it or "having changed" isn't enough to warrant forgiveness. That the prospect of someone not raping another woman isn't enough to forgive that person for the time they did or hiding this fact from people for years.

I found out about Geller. I feel betrayed by him, I believe him when he says he's changed but also "not being a rapist anymore" isn't something worthy of praise. Believing his own punishment was too light isn't worthy of praise. He should be deplatformed, I don't want to see an abuser rewarded.

inexplicably whenever I open bluesky it just immediately opens to this post. idk what dark ritual you did but not only can I see it, it is the first thing I see upon opening the app and has been for like 2 days now.

The "western world" has to pretend it exists because if not then Europe isn't a continent it's just a peninsula of Asia. Then colonisation did not bring civilisation, it brought pain and strife to pre-existing societies. Then war with "the east" isn't an echo in the history going back to "our" past.

The "basis" of the western world in Greece and Rome ignores the fact that they didn't care much for what we call western and central Europe and were far more interested with the Middle East, northern Africa, and western Asia while also ignoring just how diverse those cultures really were.
