Two months into my new job and I can attest that sometimes the grass is greener. I have a great boss who isn't duplicitous, which is quite refreshing. My stress levels are lower than they have been in years. Even my health is better. Damn, I'm actually happy going to work. Cheers everyone!

What are the odds this behavior ceased in 2018? Still a lot of questions that need answers. I just hope this gets sorted sooner rather than later.

SHOUT-OUT to Political Cartoonist extraordinaire & Member of the Order of Canada Michael de Adder, who routinely does a far better job of holding this administration accountable than the corporate media. Thank you for your attention to his brilliant satirical wit! 🙏 (also: 🤣)

He even shows up beyond our borders. I ran into this in a cemetery in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Have they no shame? Or even a simple desire to not seem like idiots? I spend so much time proofreading so I don't look dumb in front of a class of teenagers and still feel like a failure when the students point out a typo. But these guys out here without a care, just presenting slop on global scale.

We can verify the daily physical status of a specific Seattle raccoon but apparently we're completely unable to determine whether a United States Senator is alive or dead.

Another year of teacher appreciation week has passed. Again, marked safe from the school showing any actual appreciation. Not one admin spoke to me in person all week (was that the gift?). Got a pack of gum in my mailbox and a secretary brought me a cheap pen. And they wonder why people leave.

I picked those 5 because I think students could actually debate them or connect them to historical trends. Our previous involvement in Iran and Latin America. Previous times tariffs have been used. Et cetera.

Ian McDougall @imcdougall.bsky.social · 06/05/2026
In no particular order: tariffs, DOGE, Iran, Venezuela, ICE. I could keep going and going, but you said 5.

Do other professions deal with the guilt trips from management to "remember your why" during stressful times as a cheap deflection from actually solving structural problems or paying for the extra workload about to be dumped on your plate? Seems like just educators, but I could be wrong. #edusky

I am proud of the team while being disappointed. I think we overperformed this year. In any given playoff game, the opposing pitchers got to many easy outs with Canzone, Robles, and Rivas. Toronto could do damage with all 9 batters and that was the difference in the series.

Mariners were so close to a first world series. Bummed right now. They might not get back to the playoffs for another couple decades. End of the day, the 7-9 hitters would probably strike out playing tball.

I've been thinking about the benefits of a 4 day school week w/ teachers working all five days. I would be a much more effective teacher those 4 days with students if I had the 5th day to plan, prep, grade, give feedback, collab with colleagues, etc. Just a random Sunday thought. #edusky
