i think people definitely do prefer familiarity over variety, especially as they get older.. there are monocultural tendencies that recur in popmusic listening? imo the tendency to listen to the same stuff over & over seems a corollary to people who simply stop seeking new music as they age

i "grew up" listening to 90s rap & i love all that stuff but.. i hate the constant lifelong reprise-worship of those same albums over & over.. reminds me of boomers who ingest nothing much beyond the same ~500 monocultural "classic rock" songs their whole ass lives

even more pleasurable than reading a friend's book & finding the book to be a very great book—emailing said same friend to tell them their own book is indeed a great book & being assured that the book in fact could well have been a substantially better book ... the true literary empyrean ☁️ ✍️ 🌀

Susanna kneeling like Gabriel in an Annunciation and everybody with banderoles. What a weird Susanna and the Elders from Lorenzo Lotto, 1517. Florence, Uffizi.
Oil painting with full landscape and walled city in the background. Foreground stone walled bath, no vegetation. Susanna nearly naked but crouching like an ancient Venus but with hand raised like Gabriel announcing whatever's written on her banderole. Four(!) Elders, one with a banderole all very actively moving about. Odd.

disturbing but not-un-enlightening to trace the increasing adjacency of "alt-lit" types to unabashed fascists on the other app ... not terribly surprising—if you just auto-concede to lacking any sort of intellectual substance let alone coherence, you're bound to default to the zeitgeist's toxicities
