currently reading up on the first couple of post-1066 Kings of England and... wow they really loved the name MATILDA for their wives and daughters at the time, huh? Isabella and Eleanore also wildly popular. My favourite though is BERENGARIA

was reading an article in the Ordinaris dingsdaeghse courante, one of the oldest newspapers in the Netherlands, from 1645, and I love how there are already ads in it (in this case, for books)

Everyone, stop what you are doing. I've discovered there is a politician called Teresa May running for city council in British Columbia. And this is from one of her campaign videos. Never have two people with the same name had such different vibes.

lots of tweets about the Troye MV revealing that the past is a big blob to some people... I've seen it described as Wuthering Heights? 😭

I can't explain it but the older the French writing is, the easier I find it to follow along and understand (within limits)

I sort of pivoted what I did with my account and now I have a lot of very serious academics following me and I really appreciate it and them, but the urge remains to post the lightest of thirst traps.

Sometimes I think RETVRN... no need to worry about your outfit or clothing combinations anymore. You simply wake up and you wear The Outfit. It is the only one you have.

I am a coward and will never get around to actually playing any horror games (even when I owned Resident Evil 4 on the GC back in the day I had my friends play it for me), so I decided to just read the plot summaries of all Resident Evil games on Wikipedia instead

Underrated aspect of a good laptop: I looooove typing on my new Neo. The keyboard is so pleasant to work with - almost more so than the wireless keyboard I use at home. It just love going CLICKITY CLACKITY on it as much as possible.

Rotated through a bunch of options for lore keeping/campaign management (Notion, Google Docs, World Anvil, Kanka, Legendkeeper), yet ended up settling on Obisidian, which I'd earlier rejected for seeming both too bland and too complicated.

I have found that I actually work harder and more focused when I "work from home" somewhere else (e.g. a cafe, a library, abroad) because part of me feels really guilty about it and so I compensate by being super on top of things

One of my favourite things about reading 17th-century Dutch is that there are a lot of words that are no longer in use in modern Dutch that are clearly cognate with common terms in modern English (e.g. "apparentelijck" vs apparently), and vice versa.

Did second one-shot of Nimble! Almost a year after the first one too Anyway, still convinced it's the most fun system for heroic fantasy *in the vein of* D&D, but just more fast-paced, easier to prep and play, and with far more combat options.

What's an official 5e/5.5e D&D rule that we think is most often misapplied/misunderstood at tables? With the caveat of course that there are as many rules as there are tables and they are all valid ways of playing as long as you have fun, yadda yadda yadda
