I know Tony and Wendy well. They're good friends and long-time Greens, and they've spent decades fighting to protect the Hunter Valley they love. Today they took on the fossil fuel giants and got an important win.

There was so much hope for this mob when they got rid of awful Morrison government and Dr Ryan beat the equally awful #JoshieFromAccounts. Then they were sent a free pass with unelectable Dutton. It has been downhill from there. Such a disappointment. We might have hope now with David Shoebridge.

Labor’s hypocrisy on coal and gas means Australia’s climate authority, especially with our Pacific neighbours, is falling apart. Pacific Island leaders are boldly fighting to protect their nations from deadly global warming caused by coal & gas. It’s literally a life and death struggle for them.

We watched 42 7.30 interviews and one of the things we noticed was the language used to describe certain atrocities. The strongest and most graphic language was exclusively reserved for describing the killing of Israelis, a pattern we see in newsrooms around the world.

The biggest coal mine expansion ever proposed in NSW has been approved by the Minns government. It threatens to wipe out Australia's emissions reductions. This is a major test for Anthony Albanese and Murray Watt; they cannot provide federal approval to a project of this scale.

Donald Trump's war with Iran has sent energy prices through the roof - Australians are fighting back by putting solar panels on their rooftops. In the first half of 2026 we installed 180,878 rooftop solar systems and 276,011 home batteries, massively exceeding expectations.

As conflict far from Australia’s shores drives up fuel prices and renews inflation pressures, households are increasingly taking energy security into their own hands.

Did you know that 83% of Australia’s gas is used for exports? Australia Institute research shows that over the past 5 years the Australian government has allowed the export of enough gas to supply Australia for more than 20 years? A 25% tax on gas exports could end the gas shortages. #auspol

Alt text: A vertical collage of three X posts criticizing complaints about high gas prices and financial hardship. The first says people who spend $60 on wine, $7 on a latte, $16 on a cocktail, and $14 on stadium beer can pay $4.50 for a gallon of gas. The second says people complain about being broke while owning multiple TVs, a $1,200 smartphone, two cars, and buying Starbucks. The third says people carry $2,000 foldable iPhones, wear $800 shoes, and buy $14 pumpkin spice lattes, then say they won’t vote for Trump because of gas prices.

The water problem doesn’t end at the intake pipe. Data centers are already drawing scrutiny over how much water they use. Now their wastewater is raising concerns about what gets put back into our water.
Graphic featuring a Guardian headline reading, “US datacenters face further backlash over wastewater pollution.” The subheadline says cases involving rare bacteria, “forever chemicals,” and other alleged pollution have prompted alarm. Below is an aerial photo of a large data center complex next to an image of a person holding a “NO DATA CENTER” sign.
