IFP joined the 2026 ITF Anual Consultation with over 60 global bodies and organisations in Paris to emphasise that walking is the backbone of transport resilience. We called for stronger funding, better data, and clearer governance for pedestrian infrastructure. Resilient transport starts on foot.

Automated vehicles only make sense if they become a tool to liberate public space, helping reduce vehicle numbers on the streets and allowing more walking and cycling. What about a public sharing system of automated vehicles and the complete removal of cars from our cities?

Walking shouldn’t be a health risk. But extreme heat is making many streets too hot to use — especially for kids, older adults, and those without cars. Pavement and public space design can reduce surface temps by 20°C. Cool streets = walkable streets.
