A story I found about Haiti: In 1999, a group of Haitians were tired of political disorder and dreamed of a better life in the United States. So they built a small, 23-foot boat by hand using pine trees, scrap wood, and used nails. They called the boat "Believe in God."

Some photos of Haitians running in the streets. There's smoke in the background. It looks like political disorder.

A Haitian man stands next to a wall with some barbed wire behind him. The original Magnum caption said the man felt Haiti was a prison and he dreamed of making it to the United States. He wanted to be a rapper.

Some men take a break from building a boat.

A boat sets sail far off into the distance.

Been thinking on the use of GenAi for mood boards. Ethics and legal risks aside, I truly believe using GenAi as references deprives one of many pivotal things. Here’s a blurb on what I mean:

Some thoughts:
When using GenAi as a mood board you don't get sources. This means you deprive yourself from knowledge.
You generated a location? You deprived yourself of knowing more about the interesting parts of the world and why things came to be.
Generate an armor or costume? You deprived yourself on real world techniques, function, form and history.
You generated art inspirations? You deprive yourself of learning about artists from history or lock out living ones from potentially being hired.
Ethical issues of using GenAi models aside, one ends up making visuals mood boards devoid of reality and history. With it one deprives themselves from learning about our world and who is living in it, inadvertently making your work weaker, because of how detached it is from our shared human reality and history.

Nothing says representative democracy like [checks notes] deploying public resources to enforce an aesthetic decision on public properly that the public themselves chose and which presents no threat to material safety.

another commission for @adomania.bsky.social, their wonderful faun Lazarus! thank you for the opportunity to draw this boy again ✨ #art

shoulders-up digital painting of a young-looking faun, watching the viewer from behind his hands. he has light skin that fades into a tawny gradient on his forehead, shoulder-length wavy auburn and white hair with the color split down the middle, and large ram's horns that curl out and then in towards his chin. the top side of the horns is brown, with filigree carvings in it, while the bottom side is dark blue like a starry sky. the horns are shattered in a few places, the shards held in place close to each other as if by magic. the faun's eyes have dark sclera, blue irises and bright gold pupils; so does the third eye in the middle of his forehead, embedded into the bone with a few dark cracks around it spreading down the faun's face. all three eyes are looking at the viewer with an intense expression from behind the gracefully held long-clawed fingers, the faun's lips in a slight smile.
the painting is done in a semi-realistic style, with the color scheme that is almost iridescent.

I disagree. I will tell you what's wrong with his jeans. 🧵

The DoD Rapid Response team on Twitter writes: "The Secretary of Defense has great jeans." The attached photo shows Sec. Pete Hegseth wearing a blue sport coat, white button-up shirt, blue jeans, and a big buckle Western belt.

I realized I never posted my mothman, Eleos here! This was a character I created for a d&d one-shot. i'm quite fond of this design... i would like to re-use it again sometime 🤔 He was a Hexblood Barbarian, a fae raised by and in service of a Hag, unaware he was complicit in her nefarious activities.

An updated character design for an old character of mine named Auspicious. Originally a tiefling for d&d he's gone through a few iterations. I'm gonna re-invent him yet again for a new project I'm working on, but I love how this look came out for him and will try to incorporate it 💙🦚🖤
