Slap a similarly edge-friendly web client and we have incredible perf wherever the user is in the world. Anirudh Oppiliappan @anirudh.fi · 23/09/2026Lesson 0 of starting a company: don't get creative with the setup. Administriva is most definitely not what you want to spend time on. Get a Limited Liability Corporation (local equivalent) up and don't think about it. 2130
Anirudh Oppiliappan @anirudh.fi · 23/09/2026I guess next Tangled off-site is in Amsterdam. It was either FOSDEM (but that means Brussels ew), or wherever Atmosphere Conf is. Thankfully it's 1. somewhere good, 2. somewhere I haven't personally been yet. 2220

Anirudh Oppiliappan @anirudh.fi · 19/09/2026Very fascinating to note that the model's pain vector goes *down* when the user is in pain. Instead, other vectors go up (fear, negative emotion, etc.). Much like we don't feel "pain" when someone else breaks a limb. Very self-referential. 1172
Anirudh Oppiliappan @anirudh.fi · 19/09/2026This is an incredible paper that everyone, pro-/anti-LLM alike must read. While this doesn't exactly state that LLMs *feel* pain, it establishes that they have a consistent internal state that is about themselves, and responds to harm directed at them, and they'll try to get it to go away. 7734

Anirudh Oppiliappan @anirudh.fi · 11/09/2026visas are such a scam. it's absurd just how much money flows from lower passport index countries into higher ones via visa fees. to add insult to injury, there's a ~15% rejection rate (schengen, unsure of others) for which applicants get *nothing*. money gone like a fart in the wind. 1120
Anirudh Oppiliappan @anirudh.fi · 11/09/2026i never got that canadian visa btw. took them 2 months *after* atmosphere conf to let me know that i can submit my passport to the visa center, to be sent to the high commission in london. AND THEN i wait an indefinite amount of time for it to be sent back to the visa center for me to go pick it up 2180
