It will matter whether Democrats demonstrate that the mess they will soon take over was premeditated and not merely an unfortunate consequence of incompetence. Right?

Hey California: vote NO on Prop 39. It’s a Republican Trojan Horse bill intended to disenfranchise millions of voters, with costly and unnecessary barriers to voting. Don’t let these bastards do this.

AI polls can lean on racial or partisan stereotypes, a new @pewresearch.org study shows. An experimental AI poll found that 97% of Hispanic adults in the US were likely to follow the World Cup. The actual figure – based on human respondents – was 43%. www.pewresearch.org/data-labs/20...
Screenshot of a September 2026 Pew Research Center study about AI polls. The study shows that AI polls can take attitudes that are reasonably common among certain demographic and partisan subgroups and portray them as nearly ubiquitous.

Worth noting that Ravi Ruia, the Indian billionaire behind the Iowa steel plant Trump touted yesterday as bringing back American industry, has massive funding from Russian state companies. Here he is on the Kremlin website talking with Putin about it. en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/59216
Ravi Ruia: Your Excellency, friends here. My name is Ravi Ruia, I am the co-founder of the Essar Group in India, along with my brother Shashi Ruia. Your Excellency, we are involved with Essar Group in different businesses. We are in the oil refining and exploration business, in spill manufacturing, power generation, port infrastructure, metals and mining. Our total revenues are around $15 billion a year. Your Excellency, in the last two years, with active cooperation and assistance of VTB Bank, we have been instrumental in bringing in a large investment from the state-owned oil company Rosneft into India, which has given access to Russia to a very large market in India of over 1.25 billion people. It is a total investment of almost $13 billion, which is the largest investment ever made by a Russian private company into the Indian private sector.
And it has given a big, major outlet for potentially Russian crude into India and access to over 4,000 to 5,000 filling gas stations in India where our product will be directly given to Indian consumers. Your Excellency, we are also looking at how else we can bring in more Russian investment into India, which would add to the growth of both Indian market and access to Indian population as well as add to Russian export. For instance, in the power generation sector, India genuinely believes that there is large potential for Russian power equipment to come into India as the Indian power generation is growing. This is the background of our group.
We are now looking at, Your Excellency. My question to you, Your Excellency, is the economic growth in India is at 1.5 percent. And now that the oil price has recovered, what measures do you envisage to take it to a sustainable high level of 3 percent? Thank you.Andrei Kostin: Do you mean in Russia?
Ravi Ruia: Yes, in Russia.
Vladimir Putin: First of all, I would like to say that we have really good constructive relations with India, thanks also to our friendly personal ties with Prime Minister Modi, who is a serious politician and a really reliable partner.
It is largely thanks to his efforts that we are moving our relations forward in many fields. Yet we are not satisfied with the current state of our relations. It is beyond the capabilities of both India and Russia. We can increase the volume of our trade and economic ties and mutual
investments manifold, yes, many times over.
One of the investment projects you have mentioned is, indeed, the largest foreign investment in the history of the Indian economy - the acquisition by Rosneft, if l am not mistaken, of a stake worth $12 billion in one of India's largest oil refineries. I hope it is not the last investment of this kind.

It cannot be said any more clearly. Trump should have been arrested on January 20, 2021, and held without bail. Trump should be arrested now, or at least on January 20, 2029, if a Democrat wins. Let the justice system go to work. And if SCOTUS frees him, send him to prison in New York.

I'm pondering how far back in the history of the party one has to reach to find a nominee comparable to Rahm. The modern primary system has never produced one IMO

It's evident to me that Google has switched to AI-based spam filtering for Gmail -- it basically doesn't work anymore. Even after I submit multiple spam reports, I keep getting messages for the same life insurance scam. The enshittification of everything continues apace.

Football hypothetical: ball carrier appears to cross the plane of the goal line, prompting a whistle before the runner is down. The runner then gives ground for an instant before entering the end zone unambiguously. Replay shows the TD call was incorrect and the whistle premature. What now?

Unpopular opinions of mine, TV edition: 1. Widow's Bay, while featuring tremendous acting, isn't that great. The premise is contrived and very little of the comedy ever lands. 2. The Pitt isn't great, either. It's a hospital procedural melded into a one-day "24" style narrative. Fun, forgettable.

Was Desert Storm the last US military adventure where we actually had a clearly articulated win condition? We were gonna shoot at Iraqi troops until Saddam pulled them all out of Kuwait. We did, he did, and then the war was over. Everything since then has been open ended quagmires.

Not sure why replies are restricted, but the answer is to govern with energy, to seize the political initiative and never give it back until it's taken from us at the polls. Be the party of action, get tangible reforms done. The traditional finger-in-the-wind method dampens all enthusiasm.

AI makes me question the entire premise of technology, which begins with the notion that humans are served best by machines which can do the most. But is that really true? For example, do we really want our food chain managed by machines that have no stake in the outcome?

My younger son's birthday falls about a month after mine. Every year, I add another tally to my age and wax philosophical at any age ending in 0. Then, one month later, I freak completely out that my younger one is... 23 today. I expect to age, but I don't care for it at all for my sons.

What pisses me off about the Abdul El-Sayed discourse is that he is treated as a radical, despite being an extremely normal progressive. There is little meaningful differences between him & Elizabeth Warren on policy, but because he’s Muslim, Abdul is treated as if he’s DSA.
