Having egg-shaped ball sports year round between NFL, NCAAFB, AFL, AFLW, NRL, and UFL has given me a comfort I didn't know was still available to me. Gotta find a union league or two now to follow! Picked up cricket too. IPL was hype but PSL stole my heart this season. Can't wait to see both again!

There is a deep, storied history across the world when it comes to Tekken and the personalities involved. Commentary should help audiences understand and invest, not just provide free travel + hotel to connected individuals. It'd be much easier without blood money and a little bit of passion. /End

Opportunities shouldn't be limited to ppl already with production teams, sponsors, vendors, or large platforms (or to whoever becomes so popular enough they can't be ignored). Use regional commentators for majors for the love of all that is sacred! They know the players! They know the history! /9

Which brings us to the final issue... the commentary pipeline. It doesn't exist. Pools are excellent for introducing upcoming commentators. And of course... not waiting until 2wks prior to reject folks when the handshakes were already made prior to the event date. C'mon... still after 10+ yrs? /8

There is so much meat being left on the metaphorical bone that it's genuinely upsetting. Even worse is when established commentators who KNOW they're going to work the event (rather than waiting for the rejection letter 2wks beforehand) have plenty of opportunity to research. We DESERVE better! /6

The same principle applies to players: tell us about them!!! I want to know more about PoolPirate1992 and how they advanced past a higher-seeded player! Who do they play with? How long have they been playing? How does their region/community play differently from others? Educate them god dammit! /5

Tekken's pacing makes it hard to give analysis mid-match. Oohs and aahs help sell big moments BUT reactions can't replace explanations. What was the read? What was the risk involved in the setup? Give viewers a reason to understand the moment instead of just feeling it! If you know, you flow! /4

Other sports trust viewers to learn terminology through repetition and explanation. Tekken can do the same! Use the language that the players use then give new viewers enough context to understand why the move/setup/interaction mattered. Speak to all of us, not just newbies. /3

Using move-list names instead of notation to make Tekken more accessible Saying "Demon Paw" instead of "ff+2" teaches new viewers nothing while distancing the broadcast form the language of the community. Why not both? The purpose is more important than the label! WHY is Demon Paw/ff2 good? /2

Tekken commentary has 3 issues that I believe are both longstanding + fixable: the verbiage used, the lack of technical/storytelling depth, and the absence of a real pathway for new developing commentators to progress towards. It currently sits in an awkward, unnecessary (imo) middle ground. 🧵 /1

I don't know if presenting an ecosystem backed by blood money as a career-development blueprint for FGC players is the move that we should be making. Failing to point out that the capital isn't politically neutral because one is dependent on that ecosystem proves several points that have been made.

It’s hilarious how telling my neighbors' politics are just by their actions. One neighbor got mad at someone for warning us about HOA inspections, yet stayed silent when the HOA president personally targeted a resident for eviction and another with $2k+ in fines. Sure enough... isa Republican. 💀💀

The year I first started following AFL, my team (Go Dogs!) won the flag. Started following again this season after 10yrs and not only are the Dogs 3-0 but Kylie Minogue was announced for the grand final. I'm not saying it's all because of me, but I'm not saying it isn't either.
