Six months ago this morning, I was out with my kids, on the way to the park. I knew the collection of police vehicles along Wellington Cres signaled tragedy on a dangerous stretch of road, but my heart sank when I saw Rob Jenner’s mangled bike laying alongside a stretch we traveled regularly.

One reason I think it’s important to continue to highlight the disparity on our streets is that most people just don’t see it. Despite it being obvious to some, so many people don't have real clarity because we have done such an incredible job of normalizing this imbalance.

If you think Amsterdam managed to avoid being overrun by cars, you’re wrong. They too surrendered their streets to cars for many decades. But the people fought back, and forced leaders to see their mistake. There's nothing magical about #Amsterdam. They just saw their mistake, and changed it.
