Imagine living in a country that makes its own decisions. Imagine deciding if we go to war or not or, decide on our own Energy , Visas, currency, and even if we want a referendum or not. The choices to get rid of the Monarchy and HOL. That can be Scot away from UK #independence

Attention (rightly) is on the Greens, Labour and Reform, but it's a mark of how bad things are for the Conservatives that we're not even talking about their *706* votes. Contrast the notional result in 2019 (before the current seat existed) or Andrew Gwynne's old Denton seat.

Now there is hope! It's no longer a choice between grim and grimmer. We can vote for who we want and win. Anywhere. It's just one constituency, but the Green victory in Gorton and Denton is an electric shock to our political system.

The same goes for people who express a new-found concern for the poor when an energy transition beckons. They attempt this gambit even today, when renewables are cheaper than fossil fuels. In reality, such people couldn't give a damn about the planet, or poverty. They are concern trolls.

Unhook ourselves from oil and gas and we unhook ourselves from dependency on dictators, autocrats and expansionist regimes all over the planet. Renewables and other low-carbon energy sources are not just good climate sense. They are also good political sense.

Whatever you might think of Maduro, the seizure and kidnapping of a head of state takes us to a very dark place. Vast, arbitrary, extra-legal power, which could be exercised almost anywhere, regardless of the character of the target government.
