Why not modify the motion to approve a minimum amount of funding with check-ins and followups to buy the council more time to learn more? It's absurd that taxpayers are being asked to foot this bill without more information.

Yea, it sounds like there are some timing games being played by Her here. The council didn't have much/any time ("literally minutes") to make decisions. From an outsider's perspective it sure seems like the council could have approved a very low bar of funding with checkpoints/budgeting to buy time

The audio has statements from Coleman, Jost, etc. Generally they felt required to vote yes because the law requires that the City (legally) defend employees of the city. If they voted no, then they were opening the city to further legal liability (from Her and others) for not following that law.

The folks that run inspections can be *extremely* slow and inconsistent. It takes a lot of work and follow up to schedule with them, and they're almost always booked out multiple weeks

Minnesota has a law requiring electric providers pay retail rates for net metering. Wisconsin, for example, only requires wholesale rates.

Thanks for the feedback! Your concern about how AI was applied here is definitely heard. I was already working on a process to make it easier to write descriptions/digitize labels by hand and will be using it to replace the LLM-generated stuff asap. I'll reach out to Rebecca too.

Several known issues: - The Fair doesn't release a list of artists or the titles of the art, so I used an LLM to suggest descriptions and names. I fixed some errors, but I'm sure I didn't find them all. - 350 wasn't enough images, so the 3D stuff is fuzzy

Radars across the eastern half of the U.S. States exploded with reflectivity ~22 hrs ago. Most is the result of birds with current estimates now over half a BILLION actively in flight. This is part of the annual fall migration southward and appears to be the busiest night of the season underway.

I ended up on Bitwarden. The key discovery (shout out @darthbluesky.bsky.social) is that you should install the new password manager app on your phone and get it all setup, then use the credential transfer process that 1Password supports because then your Passkeys etc. are transferred.

The extra animations and clicks required to fill logins make it feel slower to me, but not bad. And yea the timestamp thing might be a bigger problem than I thought. There are some old logins that are now clobbering the new ones. Oh well we'll figure it out.

Transit has always been the best way to get to the Minnesota State Fair! From 1891 to 1952 a complex streetcar network ran in and out of the fairgrounds bringing thousands of visitors every day. You can still see the historic arch that trolleys would pass under.
