Juliet Turner is an amazing Irish singer-songwriter. I co-wrote and produced her new record, now on Bandcamp. julietturner.bandcamp.com/album/home-f.... I also made a web app as an antidote to the soulless horror of Spotify: julietturner.music - a modern day liner notes experience. Enjoy ♥️♥️♥️

It's great to switch tools every now and then. It helps reset your working habits and see things from a slightly different perspective. You can always return to your favourite tools, of course, but there's also a good chance you might find some new favourites. Neocolor 2 pastels & Pith sketchbook.

£126bn and 2.4 million people. That’s the size of the creative industries in the UK and every DCMS Minister has had to fight HMT and Number 10 over support. That’s about 10x the size of the motor industry and 4 x more productive. Fishing? Less than £500 million.

Added the following disclaimer to the speaker/critic page of my website. 💙❤️ www.brianlarossa.com/speaker_and_...
Screenshot: Brian feels strongly that commercial art created with generative AI is unethical because it is trained on the work of human artists without their consent, and its use threatens the existence of entire creative disciplines. If your organization promotes, celebrates, accepts, or condones the use of commercial art created with generative AI, please know in advance that Brian will not accept your invitation.

Honestly if we were to rewrite The First Things First Manifesto for 2025 it could just be about creative communities holding hands against AI. I teach the history of technological disruption. History tells me this is different. It does not end well. We have to hold hands.

One more time for the newcomers: Hey illustrators! Did you know there's a contact form on my website just for you? When beginning new projects I routinely check the spreadsheet for new submissions and search/sort my notes on previous submissions. www.brianlarossa.com 💙❤️ #kidlitart

Illustrator Contact Form

Hello, my name is Brian LaRossa. I'm an executive art director in Scholastic's hardcover picture book group, and I'm primarily responsible for our nonfiction picture books and our Acorn and Branches early graphic reader imprints. If you're an illustrator who is interested in working together I would love to hear from you! I've created this form to help me create a record of your interest. Please note that this form is not time-sensitive. I keep it live year-round. When beginning new projects I routinely check the spreadsheet for new submissions and search/sort my notes on previous submissions. If your work is a good fit for an upcoming title I will reach out at that time. Until then, take care!
