Angeline Era is a very strange, very beautiful game. Beat it on hard. I didn't find the plot resolution satisfying, but the gameplay was top notch throughout and I was hitting the screenshot button CONSTANTLY to capture the gorgeous and the weeeeird.

The main character, Tets, sitting next to a tower the looks like baby's first Minecraft build. It's beautiful.

Tets in a western setting with a woman who is very concerned about him. She's right to be.

One of the earliest hints of the Christian esoterica that fleshes out this world. One of the main themes of the game is the tension between Christian theology and the old folklore of the world.

Really good exploration for such a small game, great movement tech. But man, I do not get the sexy furry aspects. I'm old.

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge (PSP, '09) Completion: Still playing Recommend: 👍 Best Part: Soundtrack If the path the NPCs take is bad, then levels are trivial. If the path the NPCs take is good, then levels are INTENSE. What an interesting racing game, love picking it up for 30-40 minutes at a time.

The controls are mid and the levels are mid, but it made me laugh a few times and I like that.

3D Classics: Kirby's Adventure (3DS, '11) Completion: ✅ Recommend: ৻( •̀ ᗜ •́ ৻) Best Part: Scary ending As a kid this was one of the games I could consistently beat in just a sitting or two, so I did that a lot. Was nice to revisit, even if the 3D adds nothing. They should make a 3D Kid Dracula.

Vertigo (PSP, '08) Completion: ☑️ Recommend: HIDDEN GEM ALERT Best Part: Falling On one level in this game you're in orbit around a lush, gorgeous forest planet. Falling is a treat because you get to look at the gorgeous renders of the planet. Then you play on the planet's surface and it's fugly.

Stone (PC, '18) Completion: 50% Recommend: 😒 Best Part: The opening is identical to the opening of Disco Elysium I've enjoyed many VN-adjacent games that don't have any real gameplay, but usually they have heart. This one instead goes, "what if we have jokes?" which would be fine if it had jokes.
