I was thinking the other day how those not in DC (I'm not) aren't hit as clearly with how Trump has turned the White House grounds into something between construction site and waste dump. Genuinely upsetting. Far from the worst thing he's done but among the most tangible and graphic.

On the plus side, this is a problem that can be solved - water can be moved and managed. On the negative side, states need the skills and capacity to work with the public to create trust in data/models and their neighbors. Not so simple in this world of conspiracy and skepticism.

Hydrologist here. Agree on the main point but what also concerns me is the effect of these severe shortages on water supplies for cities. We need a plan for what we see coming. Unlike other problems, this is imminent.
