combined with the fact that the responsibility is sooooooo thankless

to me, you will be unique in all the world @huntersmark.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

i like the logical extreme of being the most perfect well suited person to a task being that, now you are the sole person responsible for doing this thing, and how crushing and heavy and lonely that responsibility can be

when i was rereading gt9 i also liked how the book plays with the idea of a person being perfect, like the most ideal and well suited person to do a task, or just to be, and how that perfection still doesn't save people... in fact, sometimes it makes it 156452 times worse

me having fun dissecting the characters in the book i like. yesterday during unrelated dnd game convo i described coronabeth as being 'perfect in every way except for the way that matters' which i think is true

i think harrow has the ability to be really sweaty but not necessarily a gremlin. occasionally engages in gremlin adjacent behavior, but not a gremlin overall

100

to me, you will be unique in all the world @huntersmark.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

harrow is the type of person who could get into really nasty academic beef with other scholars. distinctly non gremlin behavior on its own

000

to me, you will be unique in all the world @huntersmark.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

if harrow was normal she'd love thrashing other kids during the La Isla portion of the International Baccalaureate program she self enrolled into

000

to me, you will be unique in all the world @huntersmark.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

more gt9 thoughts: i disagree with people calling harrow a gremlin. i think if not for the fact that she hates herself and is denying herself from processing a knee buckling amount of grief, she's a run of the mill teachers pet

nero's guide is awesome, and concretely helped me with making a website as somebody who doesn't have the brain for this stuff 👍 if you're an artist of any sort, making a website for yourself is one of those things that hugely pays off the extended effort time and again

badly done and very brief little guide about contrast when thinking about composition! this is really just the tip of the iceberg, but it is something i think about a lot! if you take one thing from this, its that composition is ALL about relationships between the elements. (1/2)

love how harrow is so full of self loathing that she's managed to twist that loathing into pride... i also love how she has clearly never let anything go ever in her whole life and never intends to

gideon and harrow are still my favorite gt9 characters

000

to me, you will be unique in all the world @huntersmark.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

the real horror of the lyctor trials is gideon experiencing the equivalent of a couple arguing at a party about their deep seated marital problems, but multiple times

this time around im enjoying harrow's wildly vacillating relationship with her own necromancy... going from its so over ("i am an ABOMINATION that shouldnt be ALIVE") to its SO back ("I AM BETTER THAN MY FATHER AND MY MOTHER AND FOREBEARERS COMBINED")

#Bloomscrolling #ColourADay #BlueTue Monkshood or Wolfsbane (Aconitum napellus) with its papery, blue coloured blossoms, is a mid to late August bloomer in my area.

Blue blossoms, backlit by the sun exposing the tracing of veins in the petals. They are supported by slender green stems against a blurred background of dark & light greens.

Maurice Noble was THE cartoon background designer. I love how much he was able to fuck around around and get so abstractly graphic, yet no one in the audience ever batted an eye because his designs lent so much personality and energy to the cartoons they were used in.

And because of this social norm, the audience would immediately understand a man with no dog to be a slave/someone of extremely low status and would be like "what do you mean he's an army commander, where's his dog then"

Is this a good time to mention that in college my History of Translation lecturer (Michael Cronin) told us that one of the first vernacular translations of The Illiad was into Irish, and the translator had to give the main characters dogs because in Gaelic society a free man had a dog
