For a while 'trainee' was an intercommunity word within my subset of the queer internet, a stand in for... the t slur cis people aren't allowed to say but some trans people are reclaiming. So a bunch of film and TV organisations in Scotland promoting their 'trainee finder' always makes me laugh.

I generally work with teenagers - in a film context, but we have the same conversations - and they're usually already having these conversations amongst themselves by the time we talk about a film. If anything, they can be a little... zealous in the other direction!

At the same time: read those books - that have some iffy stuff in them, probably akin to Walliams or Rowling - loved them, still think they're amongst some of the best work for children of all time, and they haven't affected the way I think or feel. I think it's about trust, on the whole.

I think AI witch hunts are a loser's game - some people are just shitty writers - but I got such a whiff of ChatGPT in a big film I was really looking forward to and it has broke my brain. Specific sequences, I mean, dialogue with AI phrasing, jokes that don't really make sense. Rank.
