HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 09/08/2026We're working on a map of the Port Authority Bus Terminal. A simple one, just to get you oriented. 000
HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 28/07/2026Putting together a simplified map of the ✨Port Authority Bus Terminal.✨ Walked through (probably) all the levels today. Somehow it makes even less sense once you figure out how it’s laid out. I have so many questions. They all begin with “Why”. 120
HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 07/07/2026Getting Around: TUCSON, AZ - Transit is FREE - Streetcar is useful but slow - Website is dense - Buses are all right - Frequency could be better howdoyou.guide/transit-gett...howdoyou.guideGetting Around: Tucson, AZTraveled April 2026 010
HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 20/06/2026I've seen it the other direction too. In Baltimore you'll have different stops for different buses on the same block. Not at a depot, just regular stops. If you're not really diligent about where you stand, the bus you want will skip you. 000
HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 19/06/2026"DIDN'T YOU SEE THE BIG TRIANGLE SIGN IN THE ROAD??!!" shouted the bus driver? Like no, man, I'm on foot. I saw the crosswalk and the sign that said "Bus Stop." I'm not looking at road conditions 100 yards away around the bend. 010
HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 19/06/2026My (un)favorite is Baltimore, where different buses stop at different locations within the same block, because they're technically part of different agencies. And they depart with great urgency. 100
HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 19/06/2026None of the mapping apps (Apple, Google, Transit) took the change into consideration when routing. I was able to get on the bus by running up to it and flagging down the driver. 010
HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 19/06/2026There was no signage at the stop to indicate this. Later I noticed it was included in a list of service advisories. 110
HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 19/06/2026Today's secret rule: "if there's construction, the bus will bypass the stop." 230
HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 19/06/2026A lot of transit systems assume all their riders are seasoned riders who live in their city. This makes it really difficult to attract both new local riders and casual visitors. Secret rules help nobody, but they're really common. "Oh everyone knows this bus stops over there now!" 1184
HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 19/06/2026Just got yelled at by a bus driver for not knowing a secret rule. Hey Harrisburg, if a bus stop is closed, put a notice on it please! 022

HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 12/05/2026Getting Around: SAN ANTONIO, TX We were so enamored by the River Walk that we only rode the bus once. It was good, though! HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 27/04/2026Wow, @transit.app just dimmed my Cranberries album to tell me I might miss a connection and what train to take instead. 020
HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 26/04/2026Just rode the subway with headphones and @transit.app "Go" routing for the first time. It gives audio reminders of how many stops you have left, even when using other apps (I was also playing a game AND watching a TikTok live stream). Huge accessibility win. 🙌🙌😍🚆 062
HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 24/04/2026Kinda. A lot of buildings at that intersection have second-story entrances. It's been a while since I was there, but I remember both the subway escalators and a shopping mall opening to that level. 010
HowDoYou Guide @howdoyou.guide · 24/04/2026Getting Around: CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA The website made riding the bus look complicated. It was actually pretty easy. Also it was FREE.
