This feels like something Tom Cruise might whisper to you at a cocktail party for a major film studio

People love a story that just tells you what to think and feel about every little beat and character, don't they (derogatory)

bluestemmagazine.com/sp2023/richa... This time of year, I remember I wrote this story about the devil and his boyfriend. I think it has nice autumn vibes. 😈🧔

It's hard to imagine an edit that would play on TV at all. His body, if I recall, bumbles around ,not exactly fast, but certainly not slowly. I don't recall a chase sequence, but how many ambulatory severed head guys are there in film? That alone sounds too gory for regular tv.

That guy's face triggers some buried media memories from childhood - he was in Night Gallery a lot. 👀

And I'm a decent editor and always come in before deadline. People should really step up and give me money!

This purports to be a list of all film & TV that use it. Anything seem familiar?

This is why you have to write the story of the movie. If I were rich I'd do an anthology of lost & corrupted films that drive us nuts trying to identify! You're hired. When I'm rich, that is.

There's not much dog stuff in this one but there's so much awful gay sex. My first Sorokin and well, it's a treat.

Oops, Alligators is NOT funny; Blue Lard IS funny. Both are totally ill. Just to clarify. And I'm sorry to hear that. All too often I can't find books I want to read. Even with the internet. It's so demoralizing. Currently struggling to read a crappy PDF because the paperback is $500 😭

How is this so unique and yet still baffling? There's, I think, a modern silent film in the cthulu vein I once heard of?

Reading nothing but absolute BANERS these days: "The Alligators of Abraham" by Robert Kloss (defeats Cormac McCarthy as hallucinatory historical) "Blue Lard" by Vladimir Sorokin (the way I cringed in respiratory agony when I thought Hitler was gonna fuck the dog) Next up, "Works Of Vermin"!!
First 2 books mentioned in the post pictured.

The tricky thing is that remembering recreates memory & images each time you think about it, so that mutations take place. You embellish or strip down, and add emotionally rational but not necessarily factual content to the memory as it replays, and it can become impossible to identify!

Joe Koch @horrorsong.blog · 05/10/2026
That's the shit that fascinates me so very much. Those foggy uncertain images haunting you for decades, taunting you to give them names, dates, any reasonable anchor in reality to prove their existence. But what's the scene or plot? Would you care to say? I'm 800 years old and might have seen it.

Joe Koch @horrorsong.blog · 05/10/2026
I wonder if you'll ever find it? Or if any record of it even exists? I got really obsessed with misremembered films from my teens for a while and had the amazing experience of having someone figure out my white whale lost film memory was (unfortunately) from Blood Mania.
