This is the very definition of "trafficking" not "smuggling". Trafficking and smuggling are two distinct things. For one thing, trafficking is not limited to immigration, while smuggling requires crossing an international border. 1/ www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

But there's a mistake in the BBC report. Victims + survivors do not make "applications" to the National Referral Mechanism (NRM). This isn't something individuals can do. The false idea of "applications" helps drive the myth of individuals making fraudulent claims pretending to be victims.. [1/2]

Fuel prices are soaring in countries where Hope for Justice works, putting vulnerable children and adults at greater risk. When families can’t get to work or face new financial pressures, the risk of trafficking rises. Traffickers exploit desperation and reduced access to support.
