Physicists have confirmed the existence of plastic ice, a phase which is not quite solid, not quite liquid. It was discovered by the Institut Laue-Langevin using quasi-elastic neutron scattering. It’s probably forming deep inside big icy moons like Europa, Callisto or Ganymede. 🧪
