Thank you! I drew it without a guide, but you're right, I think I was subconsciously thinking about Appleseed 😂

Day 2 of #inktober. I see a *lot* of tarot cards cos my gf is very into them, and I like the aesthetic of the original Rider Waite deck. Especially the hierophant who definitely *isn't* a Catholic cardinal, nope, no way.
A figure in a red robe, elaborate hat and white stole sits. Their right hand is raised with two fingers held aloft. Their left hand holds a stick with three cross bars. It's not a Catholic cardinal, honest. It's also not an Orthodox priest, honest.

I felt an overwhelming urge to draw yesterday, the strongest I've felt in a while, and it wasn't until I had finished my piece that I realised it was #inktober (subliminal knowledge?). So here's my day 1.
Black, white and grey drawing of a mech. It has a sword in its right hand. It's got lots of panels and angular armour bits which serve indeterminate purposes. It's kind of Gundam with a bit of Warhammer 40000 titan to it.

We were chatting yesterday about which City players would survive in League 2 and which would instantly get snapped in half by the first fourth tier tackle they are victim of. We reckoned Haaland and maybe Gvardiol would be fine but most of the others RIP.

St Ives Town appear to be in the eighth tier, I imagine the City hierarchy are terrified of what would happen for them to be going to St Ives.

Future not quite there yet! Altho I have been paying into pensions, I just expect to be working well into my 70s.

The only reason the medieval period is being encroached on by early modernists is cos 17th centurists are being displaced by the ongoing attempts of long 18th centurists to make the c18th even longer. Mark my words, we will make the c18th so unbelievably long that the antiquers will soon fear us.

My brain every time I see people on here talking about pensions.
The Jessica Lange 'you stupid slut' meme but the text says "There's not going to be pensions, you stupid millennial".

The solipsism of these people fascinates me. That they can't even conceive of a shared experience when there's the potential to profit from it (as record labels have for over a century) is beyond me.

To be clear, I'm a United fan, but that means that if there's one thing I have plenty of experience in seeing, it's shitty owners treating fans like dirt.
020
🍂hollyzone🍂 @hollyzone.co.uk · 30/09/2026
A thing to remember throughout all of this is that the owners are treating the fans like shit. The owners are cheating, lying, throwing tantrums and embarrassing the club, but in the end they will walk away and it's the fans who are left with the wreckage.

Too late, injecting the Treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte into my own veins at home with a dirty needle
Google AI overview:

Normandy officially transitioned from a county (the County of Rouen) to a duchy between the years 996 and 1015.
This information is for general knowledge and should not be taken as medical advice; consult with a healthcare provider for any health concerns. While the territory was originally founded as a fiefdom in 911 via the Treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte, its first rulers—beginning with the Viking chieftain Rollo—held the title of "Count of Rouen" or "Jarl of the Northmen".

I can only assume at least one teacher found it all hilarious and persuaded everyone else to let us.
020
🍂hollyzone🍂 @hollyzone.co.uk · 23/09/2026
One was about the history of our town and the teachers told us to reduce the size of the battle scene down from full war to single combat. The other was about the teachers kidnapping our headteacher and was created as a goodbye present for the head who was leaving. WHY WAS I ALLOWED TO DO THIS???

Twice my primary school gave over an assembly to my year so we could perform my plays. The plays were not commissioned by anyone, I just decided we were doing plays, wrote them, got all the kids in my year to rehearse at play time. I suspect the school felt they *had* to let us perform or we'd riot.

There's a reply under the quoted post where someone is essentially saying 'Why make Warrington a city when Reading isn't one?' and a) yeah, it's weird Reading isn't a city, but b) Warrington is bigger than Reading. Warrington is so much bigger than people realise.
110
🍂hollyzone🍂 @hollyzone.co.uk · 21/09/2026
I truly believe that part of the reason Warrington isn't a city and is also not very well known outside the NW of England is that it's a rugby league town and doesn't have a league football team (both Warrington clubs are in the 7th tier).

The Lib Dem ground game in G&D was basically nonexistent so the 2024-2025 changes would have needed to include upping that. The Lib Dems have had an MP in south Mcr in the last 15 years so it's not like no one in their Mcr branch knows how to do a winning campaign (yes yes, G&D v diff to Chorlton).

The Marvel things that have worked best for me post Endgame are almost entirely ones which actively concerned themselves with sadness and how to address it (Spiderman 4, Wandavision, Agatha, Thunderbolts). The other one I liked, Hawkeye, leaned into character too, but more jovially.

If you know Cheshire then my attempts to conceived of its size went Holmes Chapel (too big) > Goostrey (too big) > Peover Superior (too big) > Peover Inferior (sort of the right size). Why do we care?

🍂hollyzone🍂 @hollyzone.co.uk · 16/09/2026
I grew up in a very similar sort of area (rural Cheshire) and at first I assumed it was a village of similar size to my home village (~6,000) so when I saw there are ~350 ppl in this place... that's barely a place. Why is this national news? Why is a minister commenting?

I was 16 and in NW England, and I found out by hearing the school bus drivers talking about it as I left school at normal time. I've never heard of UK buses being cancelled that day (cf that really interesting article about how quickly they got the buses running on mass on 7th July 2005 in London!).

The national anthem is one of a very small number of anthems worldwide which is about one single person* in the country. Therefore, changing it to 'S Club Party' would result in a sevenfold increase in representation. *Ok, if you go far enough in, the "rebellious Scots" (SNP voters?) get a mention.

I remember it clearly cos those few seconds between hearing that Diana had died and hearing that it's was a car crash were spent thinking "I hope it wasn't the IRA, they're going to kill us all if it was", in case you want an insight into growing up as both anxious and Irish in the UK in the 90s.

Have them do the 40s/50s as in the older comics then yeet 'em both through a time portal to 2026. Their last conversation in 1958 sees both predicting how the world will respond to mutants. They get to 2026 and see they were both right and wrong in different ways. Regular service resumes.
