Today is my last day @mta.maryland.gov. After 13 years, I'm closing this chapter but never closing the door on my love for transit. I'm grateful for the people, passengers, & partners who made this work meaningful. I'll always be cheering on the MTA team. I'll see you on the bus!

The @mta.maryland.gov is investing in new vehicles! This morning, I caught a new Metro car & this afternoon a new hybrid bus. We are also evaluating bids for replacement Light Rail vehicles & battery electric MARC locomotives. New vehicles will improve reliability across the system!

Caught the @mta.maryland.gov Metro this morning & it was one of our new railcars!As we continue to receive more cars, riders will see the legacy trains gradually replaced with new ones. We anticipate having 9 railcars available this month & weekend service will be all new trains.

75lbs. They won't accomodate the super heavy bikes but will handle more than our existing cracks. They also have wider bases so they can accommodate fat tires.

Hey! This is something we want to do but don't currently have funding. Once funded it will take 6-12 months to complete. We do our best to have a bike car for every weekend train but when we run them on the weekdays sometimes they get stuck in the wrong place. I've asked our team to prioritize.

It's @mta.maryland.gov MARC Monday! Started the day with easy transfers from 54->Gold->Penn Station. Ran into neighbors & friends on the street & the bus. Got work done on the train. Transit creates opportunities for chance interactions and frees up time to do other things!

Taking the kiddo to the Hippodrome this morning for Paw Patrol Live & taking @mta.maryland.gov was a no-brainer. $2 fare to be dropped off across the street vs gas at $4+/gallon plus $$ for parking. Plus kids love taking the bus and train!

Because of our unwavering commitment to delivering for Maryland, Governor Wes Moore & others were excited to mark the final installation of Purple Line's rail. When Governor Wes Moore first took office, the project was just under 50% complete. Now, Purple Line is 90 percent complete!

People have been asking for the Purple Line for over a decade. Today, we put the FINAL piece of rail in the ground. Thanks to everyone who made this milestone possible and delivered on a project that’s been stalled for far too long.

The @purplelinemd.bsky.social Manchester Tunnel work is nearly complete. Major construction is ongoing along Wayne Ave & into Silver Spring. We look forward to finally reopening Bonifant Street later this year.

On the UMD Campus, where we recently extended vehicle testing through, the catenary poles change to black to match the campus. We also switch to just contact wire through the campus to avoid electrical interference. Parallel feeders are tunneled under the tracks.

Construction at New Carrollton will be complete this summer with a new bus loop in progress. The station is complete and looks great! Trains have been tested to the bumper post here. Construction here is complicated as @purplelinemd.bsky.social accommodates WMATA buses & TOD construction.

The @mta.maryland.gov leadership team is spending the morning checking out the progress on the @purplelinemd.bsky.social project. Our first stop was at the LEED certified Glenridge Operations & Maintenance facility. All 28 vehicles are at the facility & testing is ongoing.
