thinking about the popularity of so many "redraw trends" and plagiarism of compositions by all sorts of artists (it comes up often for gposing but 2D artists do it too). i have to sum up my discomfort with it as follows: it's artists treating other artists the same way A/I treats art as data

My attack for @ ThenForgotten on Art Fight of his character, Delmer Beacon. #artfight #artfight2026 #teamcomedy See ThenForgotten here: artfight.net/~ThenForgotten

A watercolor illustration of the character, Delmer Beacon. He stands in front of a light house on an overcast day. He wears a gray sailor-themed outfit: a cable knit sweater, overalls, and a cap (the cap has a lighthouse and wheel pin). Delmer has shoulder-length, wavy light brown hair. Because of his mechanical nature he has tubes coming out of his neck and mechanical eyes.

The biggest thing I have learned is you rarely will ever get a drawing 100% "perfect" the first time around. Often, it will be straight up trash. So don't give up after 1 failed drawing! Either start over on new piece of paper or a new layer.

personally I think that might hit a nail, cuz beyond the struggles ppl are having with interpreting metaphor and understanding context, a lot of people consume stories in a way where they are unable to take in information and change their initial interpretation, even ppl who are very perceptive

controversial take but I think the “i can interpret this any way I want” approach to art and lit has helped no-one, like everyone will naturally have a differing perspective but that doesn’t mean consciously ignoring tex or weaving theories to fit a pre-decided belief

This postcard reads, "Sand Artist, showing automobile made out of Sand, Atlantic City, N.J." It shows a large sand sculpture of an early 20th-century open-top touring car. Three figures sit in the car: one in the front seat and two in the back, both wearing wide-brimmed hats. The African-American artist stands beside the sculpture wearing a hat and dark jacket. Several human faces appear at the base of the sculpture.
