Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 14/05/2026Some of the creatures people create are just fab. There are plenty of examples, I'm sure. Two more: 110
Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 14/05/2026Art is definitely half the joy of board gaming. I see some fab art come through 'processing'. Campaign games come to mind, with all the creatures and beautiful artwork , such as such as Malhya and Primal: The Awakening. Plus TCG art. Basically any board game box, as well. 120

Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 01/05/2026😆 My deck matches the rules book...! Basically, it's set collection / points collection, e.g. you collect ribbons, or animals, or build one of the key sets. The main difficulty is working out what the cards are: which suit/which animal/which Bright. You score in a similar way to Cribbage etc. 110
Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 01/05/2026Thanks. It's pretty, isn't it. The cards are European playing card size, and especially usefully, they match the rules book 😀 Which helps massively! 010
Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 30/04/2026Game of Hanafuda this evening. 105 points to me, plus a set that knocks 50 points off my opponents' scores. 321

Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 26/11/2025I heard recently that Google hit 90% market share, and to avoid investors getting nervy because the company wasn't growing that much, Google made the search results worse. Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 17/10/2025You'd have thought they'd have weighed those sorts of things up in the report... but instead they focused on how often translators boil kettles and their office block costs, while deciding it was too difficult to factor in the energy usage of AI data centres. 000
Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 16/10/2025I can imagine someone sitting in a library, talking to their laptop, with the instructions being picked up by the laptop of whoever is sat next to them, and then being asked to be quiet by the librarian. Definitely not workable in the real world 000
Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 16/10/2025Yeah, it's an interesting development... Apologies for the late response - I forgot to drop into BSky 110
Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 16/10/2025How would that even work in an open-plan office? Or a coffee shop coworking space. Nobody would be able to concentrate and everyone would know exactly what you were typing. I don't think they've thought this through very well 110

Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 25/09/2025Europe Economics has 'compared' the energy usage of AI translation and human translation. The numbers are a nonsense – AI is not some green saviour who vastly outbids us wasteful, gluttonous human translators (how dare we need feeding?!). Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 10/09/2025😂 yeah it was a bit like that for me... I managed to get just shy of the summit, but then had to abseil down quickly to stay alive. The second time, I wasn't so lucky 😂 110
Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 08/09/2025Tonight's gaming: K2. First playthrough. Enjoying it so far, but then no-one has fallen from the mountain and plummeted to their death yet. Totally different from yesterday's Happy Little Dinosaurs. 120
Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 16/07/2025Interesting... I'd just seen a map recently that compared second language ability across Europe and Germany scored reasonably highly on that. Scandinavia was obviously top, and then France/Italy/Southern Europe lagging a long way behind. UK was low (as expected) 100
Harriet Cooper @hmflowerpot.bsky.social · 15/07/2025Agreed, and actually, Germany has quite a high rate of English literacy compared with other countries... The question is: why would someone spend their money on a game if the designers can't be bothered to cater for them? I've read that translations/dubbing etc can be 50% of a film's sales, for e.g. 110
