Ever felt that feeling when you wanted to do something and were excited about it but something happened in your life and that something made it so unenjoyable to do the thing you were excited about? Yeah, that is me right now...

For the sake of my sanity, I will limit who can answer this thread. I will also once again mute it for many, many reasons Thank you everyone who got the courage and spoke up about this. Let your voices be heard and share your concerns but remember to keep it civil 👍 I know it can take a lot

for me to keep talking to the other party, since I already voiced my issues previously, multiple times and explained what can be done to make me (and many others) happy and even gave some advice on how to tackle certain things or alternatives there is really nothing more to discuss from my side...

how harsh and awful life can be sometimes. We want to make people smile and happy with the work we do but also, we want to make ourself smile and happy too All we want is to be respected and our voices to be heard Not forget to mention, to go back to the opt-in system, in the long run, it would be

Now, I want to make clear I have zero intension of harming anyone and I beg anyone involved in this to not directly attack people. Keep it civil. Just to repeat it, I am a dumb little hobbiest game dev and hobbiest game modder. I am not someone who "bricks peoples PCs" or anything similar to that

I really really am a stupid nice guy, who gives people multiple chances to show that they can do good stuff and are willing to work together. But I really just don't feel anything was even trying to come to a wavelenght where both parties tried to find a ground. It felt more I was supposed to let my

Hiro-sofT @hiro-soft.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
I just don't feel the will is there to help us. You can say "we will listen and talk about the problems" as much as you want, but its not helping, whenever someone brings ideas or tells you about what they would like to improve, you basically just try to counter the argument as much as you can

putting the workload on the creators and expecting that people wouldn't opt out from it. EVEN, if it is not the intent, it is the feeling this gives to us creators and its not a great feeling... Sidenote, I heard from sources also that the opt-out system is handled locally in the files of the tool,

it so we don't get picked by the system or are opt-out'ed. It is our job to do it right now. I can't be the only one who thinks that is in general a pretty annoying and incorrect approach right? If your counter argument is "well big corps do that too with stuff like AI" then I just say: in most

a lot of people won't opt-out either because, A. this tool isn't all that well known yet and B. people that left or gone inactive won't be able to opt-out obviously Why is this such a big point you ask? Because this means, the whole workload is shifted to us creators. Suddenly we have to work for

4. The opt-out system I don't need to explain this one in grand detail but the short end of it: the pure existence of this is so that hacks of authors who are difficult or impossible to contact (example: Takamoto, creator of the Kaizo Mario Trillogy) can be by default taken by the tool, since

This alone already has put me in a bad mood and broke a big part of my trust I am fine with talking about differences and doing it civil once I know the person on the opposite side is willing to do so. However, this was one of the first responses that day and... ngl, not a good first impression

It is the places where most of the tools are made, discussions being held and of course... where a lot of the hacks are being kept I don't need to say it makes the most sense that, whenever you do a SMW modding community driven thing, that these are places you get the most results for presenting

not every player and viewer is a creator, it just happens to be that some people are viewer/player + creators. However, Twitch is not the main place for creators. That place would be both, the SMW Central Forums/Site and the SMW Central Discord as both serve as the biggest known hub for SMW modding

Hiro-sofT @hiro-soft.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
Before I continue, let me just go back and talk about some of the points made earlier: 1. Twitch is... and I repeat it, not the place most of the SMW modding community is active. It is the place where most of the SMW mod playerbase or/and viewership is active. This is an important difference since

But I am getting ahead of myself there... The short story is, party creators is not happy how the situation is handled and that... party mixtape wants to use the hacks with a opt-out system for a tool, which was already heavly criticized years ago. A bunch of us feel disrespected and betrayed

puts up the work and actually says they don't want that to happen to their works... it is designed to be as inconvenient as possible (or at least it give that feeling of that, imo). Meanwhile, when suggesting alternatives which would require work from the opposite side its too hard or time consuming

Hiro-sofT @hiro-soft.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
I also must add a lot of the hacks, while free to download, were uploaded without the intention of being used for a tool like this This isn't like Mario Maker, which asks for consent when uploading a level online and you know what you are getting into. It is just assuming it's fine until someone

for a good reason. These are passion projects people made with the intent to make cool stuff and show it to others, be passionate about the craft and just hang out and share a cool hobby together, not because they wanted fame or riches It is simply not fair to put these two sides on the same scale

like your standard run out of the mill big businesses or market. Big corporations like Big N compete on a market with money, they sell stuff, because they want to grow as a business and make money We make hacks mostly for fun. It would be wrong to ask for money and most people don't do that
110
Hiro-sofT @hiro-soft.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
with that is you are technically right, but this doesn't help anybody in the situation. Of course, we could all just stop and drop all the works in an instant and stop making things, but that is not anyone wants, i assume. The SMW hacking community or any hacking community in general doesn't work
110
Hiro-sofT @hiro-soft.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
the people who made and uploaded the rommods to SMW Central, some of us, don't like the idea of a tool to just grab things we made and ripping them out of the context 'WITHOUT' our consent. The general counter argument is "well you guys did that with nintendos game so hypocrite much"... the problem
