A really harrowing story of grief, art as a mechanism of coping, and escapism. Enjoyed it a lot. The vibes of everything felt off the whole game and it wasn't till act 3 when the big reveal hit me and I realized "oh okay that's why this shit is weird" and it's not just cuz it's French. 8/10.

Before that point I was kind of over the game already and don't really wanna go back and like, get real stupid with the builds and max out my levels at the moment knowing there's only like a few optional bosses to test shit out on that can handle my theoretical damage output but whatever.

It really is a damn shame that act 3 works as a "post game" bc the story can't work otherwise. I had heard of how easy it is to just annihilate the last boss if you play too much of act 3 and so I only went to go and max my relationships (3ish hrs) and head straight to the end and still nuked it.

Expediton 33: ✅ Complete! This one is a fucking bummer man, in more ways than one. Solid JRPG carried by an incredibly flexible build system. On top of the depressing ending, the final act falls completely flat in terms of pacing that I don't think they could have solved in a more elegant manner.
