Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I can’t complain, my friend. This time of year up here can be downright magical. 010
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Figure we’d better find those trout when they’re up for being found. #flyfishing #fishing #idaho #photgraphy #rivers #dogs 1132
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I very much appreciate the repost, @bobbradley.bsky.social! Thank you, sir. 010
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 05/10/2026The best. He’s officially got the bug! This is his first brown ever and she was a beaut. Couldn’t be more stoked for him. And since he picked up that raft this week, he’s prioritizing his river time. You need to get out there with us! 010
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 05/10/2026So many thanks for reposting, @leslea61.bsky.social! 010
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Oh, and also really nice to not need a trailer and be light enough to easily tug it up a riverbank. 😂 110
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Spent the past two days in Class 3 rapids and slack water (and everything in between) with two guys and gear. I have a Slipstream 142, as well, and this little one is much more responsive and it rides high on skinny water. Oarsman’s seat is further back than I’m used to. But a perfect alternative. 110
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Thank you for the repost, @oleflytyer.bsky.social! 010
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Added a new tool to the mix (a 9’6” NRS mini) and got into some browns on a gorgeous October Saturday. #flyfishing #trout #priestriver #Idaho #raft 5313
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Love it! Still making sourdough? And that’s a good fish right there. Well done. I’ll likely do a day or two with Crandall next week. 110
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Thanks so much! She’s a special one to us and gets out nearly every day in the summer months, weather permitting. 010
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 01/10/2026It’s hard to believe that the summer boating season has come to an end up in our neck of the woods. This old gal, 80 years young, will find a fresh exterior come spring. #woodboat #chriscraft #lakelife #Idaho #flyfish 280
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Ah, yes! That simple little soup is a taste of autumn. Thank you for the nod, Jason. And forgive me if I’m I’m mistaken, but I believe I may have spotted a shout out to you in a somewhat recent Water Time newsletter? #flyfishing #autumn #mushroom #soup 160
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 02/07/2026Summer *may* have FINALLY arrived. Jury is still out. 120
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 01/07/2026In stealing a couple of hours up the lake before a busy holiday weekend, it’s a delight to quietly shake hands with a few locals. #Idaho #flyfishing #trout #cutthroat 2191
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 28/06/2026Stay safe but have fun! The salt is amazing with a fly rod. 010
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 28/06/2026Thanks for the repost, @oleflytyer.bsky.social! Always appreciated! 040
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Realized that I never commented on this, @onecoolplanet.bsky.social. Didn’t mean to be rude. Was out of the country. Anyhoo. These are some of my pals over at NWFFO (and you might also recognize the feller on the right, Zach Carothers, who was with the band, Portugal The Man.) 110
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 27/06/2026😉 We’re mighty lucky to be able to see these wild places in this way. 010
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Thank you, Marv! She is a beauty, the upper section of that river. Regarding floats for the C 172, the retrofit never really made financial sense. But we do have access to a very cool float plane, which we do use during the summer and fall months. 010
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Looks like the weather is going to be outstanding for your time up here. Always nice to put a face to the name. Especially Bluesky folks. Gimme’ a shout if you want to meet up. No problem if not. Either way, enjoy! 110
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Due to the low snowpack, and quickly warming temps (with a slight reprieve this week), our season’s fly fishing on the Priest River will likely come to a close next week or so. Thank goodness for the cooler systems that surround us. 161
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Got some flying in this week that included some scouting. And some #flyfishing. This place never disappoints this time of year. #idaho #cutthroat #floatplane #fishing #trout 5311
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 18/05/2026What is peculiar here is that we get about 30% more takes in purple than any other dry fly. Below the surface? Not at all. It’s all green, red and black. Of course on the Caddis hatch, tan, pale orange, and some yellow. 110
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 17/05/2026“The worst” is probably the most apt description I have for that ghoul. 😉 000
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 17/05/2026I enjoy glass, as well. I feel like I reach for it in tiny streams most often, but that deep bend is a joy. Reminds me of the very first fly rod I could call my own. 130
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 17/05/2026Ha! The PED can save a late session. Love that bug and its imitation. 210
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 17/05/2026My go-to Oregon list is a tad different. Stimulators in various sizes and offshoots (like Norm Woods) and gold or orange generally rule that box. 110
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 17/05/2026Absolutely. Those guys have helped me catch a lot of fish over the years. 😉 200
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 17/05/2026Great question! Up here, in northern Idaho, the cutts love purple and flashes of red. So for me, here, it’s: Purple (and Royal) Chubby Chernobyl Purple Haze X Caddis (with a little orange hotspot) (Plus any Stimulator) 220
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 17/05/2026And to be clear, I have no issue with PE’s existence in business. They’ve clearly cracked the code under the auspice of “investment”. As a consumer, I’m just not a fan of what squeezing every ounce of joy for profit does for my experience with the brand. But I ALWAYS appreciate your hard takes. 💯 010
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 17/05/2026But to answer your question directly, Round Ball, I have NOT read that. But it’s now on my list. Thank you! 000
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 17/05/2026No question about rod production being a losing financial proposition. Passion (and leading innovation) has a funny way of doing that in most instances. 010
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 17/05/2026Sorry. And I got it after the fact. Even numbered, the order of replies was a tad askew on my thread. My bad. 000
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 17/05/2026You’re not wrong, CJ. PE has an interest in building brand value at the greatest margin on behalf of their shareholders. Profit per sale is a tactic but not the strategy. Consider loss leaders. Nah, PE today is largely about positioning for future sale or parting out divisions for the same purpose. 100
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 17/05/2026Unless, of course, the differing comes down to “the last great taper”. Which I believe is a matter of personal feel, and therefore, personal opinion. Which, of course, I welcome! 110
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 17/05/2026Not entirely certain what you’re differing with here, CJ. I 100% agree with small market, small margin, challenging ROI. But I do strongly disagree with PE pumping in quality to boost return. That may have been the case at one time but it’s purely a margin game. That said, this purchase is not that. 220
Trapper Creek @hillerns.bsky.social · 17/05/2026Entirely fair! The primary difference here is it’s not a faceless PE firm or a multinational like Shimano. Robertson resides in Twin Bridges and is an enthusiast. That said, yeah, I get it. 110
