I disagree on the badges but I use them strategically in order to not get the push notifications on a few things I don’t let end up near email. Email absolutely does NOT get badges but Bluesky does. Go figure on my logic on some of this but it works for me. It’s a complex triage system.

I’ve never actually had to do an appeal before … there IS an email address you can try too but I’m temped to tag in someone. If you’re in the appeals phase you should be able to see things I think though? Also maybe go use pdsMOOver backups on that account if you don’t have rotation keys already.

Are you not seeing an appeals link if you log into that specific account (browser or app via bsky.app)? Or Settings → Moderation → Appeal a Suspension (which AI told me) I do have concerns about the clarity of these emails as people start using other clients to access things too @safety.bsky.app

Properly switched from the swim life to the hike life today. Trying something that gives me better data viz if I’m actually wearing my watch.

The logic is that the average person is going to use what is most available to them. So even if you choose a fun font, you need fallback fonts (kinda like css) that's not going to make everything look terrible. (Adobe was making it hard to collect a list of their fonts. Canva also difficult.)

Over here setting up a virtual machine that's sandboxed just so I can download a full list of fonts (not the fonts themselves) from somewhere. I'm trying to compile a modern list of fonts similar to what I used to keep of system fonts when it came to brand guidelines.

It's a browser window size thing. ipad is not large enough to be a standard computer size but I also recreated the problem on my laptop. Make Streamplace small enough and it's fine again.

Actually I think I figured it out sorta (though still doesn't make a lot of sense.) I had a Firefox tab open on an ipad being used as an external monitor (the apple's thing not an app.) Moved the tab back to my mac as display and it loaded and I move it back over to the ipad.

This is also proof of where it falls into certain problems though so hopefully it's something that can be resolved. I say this because deactivating should really only impact the component you are deactivating for. (There is no interface of these things for someone who isn't in their own PDS.)

I think the issue is "deactivation" from within Bluesky (user choice) specifically appears to behave differently than the take-downs (moderation / labeling.) It looked like Wisplace tested this (original message) & outcome wasn't good (& I don't have time today to double check how exactly it works.)

This is in fact the reason I'm not using EmDash even on a testing site at the moment. Portability. I DO like how EmDash is built otherwise & I don't expect it to change because I am aware Cloudflare is building it. I feel like there's a catch 22 of funding to opensource ratios in so many places.

This seems like something that seriously needs to be fixed with Bluesky / ATproto IF the goal of ATproto is to store personal data but allow for user to choose where they participate or don't. I've always wondered what temporarily deactivating could/would take out but had not done a deep dive.

I still usually draw the line at soldering because I've never bought the precision tools. Though I did once solder in a headphone jack on a palm pilot treo - low risk of burning out parts of the board that still worked. Got about 6 months out of it before the headphone jack fell out again.

Flea market finds I suspect also help (lower cost fails.) The 1st time I replaced ram in a macbook in ~2001 & the forums had mentioned the sound but I was not prepared for the "snap" that wasn't actually breaking anything. There's so much more info now with videos & sites like ifixit.

I was having trouble getting it to connect to Notion the first time I tried and haven’t come back to it to try again. There’s a file import option with that one too but I think you have the problems mentioned for sure then.

If you need a new grill, the whole being outside side of things won’t set off the smoke alarm. I used to have a grill with a side smoker but I’m pretty sure it’s also possible to smoke meats in a charcoal grill if you soak wood chips I think.

Like even if I don’t think the government would do anything to a bank account, I don’t actually trust their seeming complete lack of security. I’m pretty sure BOTH the US and Canada actually had a a ton of DMV info compromised recently.

Fair - and everyone’s setup and privacy parts of their lives would be different. 🤷‍♀️ There was a time I had deeply uncomfortable levels of access to other peoples bank account info and even in an encrypted format I don’t think it would be a good idea to have that in anything crossing the border.
