The anxiety levels when you deliver an EP to a client that you've mixed and you're waiting for a reply. Yeah, that. (Even if you're confident in the mixes it still brings the unease)

This is devasting news for all those that work there (and the music production community who've got so much invested in their products)

Yes, ALL the companies, I'd love to join you at NAMM. Fancy paying for my air fare, visas, accommodation, various sundries?

Some recent releases that I’ve had the pleasure to work on in various ways. Give them a listen and support grassroots music.

Shout out to all the UK engineers and producers who’ll be topping up their studio tan by spending the weekend in a windowless control room and missing out on the lovely weather. Like me.

Two wonderful alt-folk and trad folk releases that I’ve mastered here recently. First up is ‘The Frog, The Mouse, The Ship, The Cabin Boy’ by @bitybooker.bsky.social which is something else. And second is the superb compilation ‘Sing Yonder 2’ curated by @karlsinfield.bsky.social. Big recommends.

I seem to have become a top-down mixer and I’ve no idea how or when it happened. Seems to be working though (I hope).

Tonight I was in a pub with a bunch of artists (of a variety of disciplines) and just felt so uncool and mostly out of my depth. I’m not alone, right? Always the bridesmaid syndrome. Z

I have been at @highpeakrecordings.bsky.social today doing vocals for what will hopefully be a forthcoming HawaiiWorms release, but I forgot to take any photos whatsoever so you'll just have to imagine it. It was so much fun though.

Who would have foreseen that by effectively stealing music from artists by stopping paying out on songs that have less than 1000 streams in the past 12 months would result in a first ever annual profit for Spotify? In related news: PLEASE USE BANDCAMP

Not sure I fully understand all the terminology. If they’re using something like ChatGPT to write substantial amounts and not saying they have is that a defiler? (Trying to keep my head in the sand with it all)

Studio owners Do you take a deposit for recording sessions? Getting fed up with people booking then cancelling. Thinking I need some financial cover.

030

High Peak Recordings @highpeakrecordings.bsky.social · 17/01/2025

My credit card got cancelled by the bank due to lack of usage. Probably about 10 years ago now. If I can't afford it, I can't buy it (taught to me by my late Dad).

High Peak Recordings @highpeakrecordings.bsky.social · 14/01/2025

Absolutely. First heard it a few years back, but I guess its popularity means it's come back on my radar. I shall check out some Cozy Synth as well.

I really want to like dungeon synth, I really do. But there's something cheesy about it that puts me off. I find myself cringing at the more grandiose bits.

Happy Xmas you beautiful bastards! So, 2024 saw me take a huge life-changing step by taking over the studio in Stockport. It’s been a wild ride and I’m loving it. Thanks to all for trusting me with their music. And doesn’t Andrew look festive in his hat? Bless his stuffed heart.
