Here’s the latest on Wallace! We received some wonderful news during his re-check yesterday - his drain was removed! The infection is clearing up and his wound is healing on schedule.

All told, Wallace's veterinary care will cost at least $2,000. Wallace needs your help to make this full recovery possible. It’s impossible to resist his charm. He remains remarkably affectionate through all of this, and everyone at Harmony House wants to see him thrive.

Wallace has a long road ahead: a drain for a week, stitches for two weeks, and a full wardrobe of protective cat clothes that he’s already trying to Houdini his way out of. On top of that, he's in urgent need of a dental procedure for several cracked teeth.
This photo shows a close-up of an orange and white cat wearing a white, ribbed sweater. The cat is being held by a person whose hands are visible, and one hand has a large gold ring and a silver ring. The background appears to be an indoor setting with a gray, textured surface below and wooden cabinets in the distance.

He came to us with a persistent, infected wound that needed immediate intervention. Our vet partner was able to clean and close the injury, inserting a drain to start the healing process.

We learned this morning that Sir Fur, thankfully, is not obstructed but is still needing emergency care due to a very high fever. We’ll continue to keep everyone updated as we learn more. Again - thank you to everyone who has donated so far. It means so much to us.

Hey y’all - we had to rush Sir Fur for hospitalization this afternoon for a possible obstruction. This guy deserves every chance he can get! Every gift you can make will help us with what’s needed for him and for all the cats in our care. hhforcats.org/supportus/

We’ve always envisioned our Adoption Center as a community space. A peaceful respite - well, as much of one can be with cats in it - for people to get away from the chaos of their days. We’re making it a regular thing starting next Tuesday and every first Tuesday going forward.

Here’s the big news: We’re currently pacing 90 days ahead of our 2025 adoption rate! That’s three extra months of second chances and lives saved. Better yet - our Working Cats program is also ahead of schedule, having placed nearly 20 cats into their preferred living situation.

We fell in love with Cola right from the start and once we learned he was surrendered due to housing insecurity, we made sure he joined us. We’re still getting to know him and his personality but as you can tell from these photos and video - he’s as sweet as they come.

Sometimes you come across a cat at Chicago Animal Care & Control who sticks in your mind as a cat you absolutely need to transfer and give them their best shot at a second chance. For us, that’s Cola, a 13 year old with quite the tale.

Today, meet Diamond. That’s her CACC name so it’ll change once she’s at the adoption center today. This sweet girl decided humans were pretty sweet and became obnoxiously friendly so duh, she’s ours. We already know she won’t be with us for very long and that’s how we want it to be!

It was obvious to us how we should honor Mixtape’s legacy - we would transfer medical cases from CACC and give them an opportunity. With that we brought in three cats who were exposed to feline panleukopenia and Tassel, a small kitten who had her tail amputated due to it being necrotic.

The unfortunate reality of animal rescue is that things can quickly go south when you’re working a difficult case. Sadly, that’s the result with McWhorter who unexpectedly passed while starting treatment.

Everyone, meet McWhorter - they have quite the story to tell. hhforcats.org/support-us/
A close-up of a Siamese or Siamese-mix cat with dark points and a white coat, eating from a white ceramic bowl. The cat appears elderly or in rough condition—its ears are torn and its fur is patchy, possibly due to age or a difficult life outdoors. A person in a gray sweatshirt is gently holding or supporting the cat in the background. The scene is calm and nurturing, showing the cat receiving care and food.A dramatic nighttime rescue scene: a man in a neon yellow shirt is standing knee-deep in murky water, pressed up against a tall, rusty steel retaining wall that lines a canal or drainage area. He’s holding a cat close to his chest with one arm and using a flashlight to guide himself with the other. Tall grass and chain-link fencing are visible above the wall, and the light from the flashlight reflects off the water’s surface. Now safely out of the canal, the man in the neon yellow shirt is smiling and holding a cat carrier. Inside the carrier, the rescued cat is visible through the small porthole window. It appears to be the same Siamese or Siamese-mix cat from the first photo. The background shows a quiet street at night, lit by a streetlamp, emphasizing a moment of relief and success.A wide daytime shot of the canal where the rescue took place. The scene is more peaceful here. The water is calm, and there’s dense greenery along the metal retaining wall. In the corner, at the base of the wall near some rocks, the cat can be seen curled up—most likely the same cat from the rescue. The location looks isolated and difficult to access, highlighting the challenge and importance of the rescue effort.

Feral and behaviorally compromised cats suffer under confinement and are much happier living outdoor lives. When these cats land at CACC, they lack humane outcomes and are at risk of euthanasia. Knowing CACC faces a struggle each day with an increasing number of animals, we could no longer stand by.

Real talk - I adore this cat. Yeah, she’s got some wobbles and doesn’t have any teeth. She’s been through a lot. But she’s also tenacious. She loves to join a scuffle and asserts herself. Her attitude is something we can all use right now.
